PART A Members of the IQAC assessed the progress and development made by the college during the past one year keeping in mind the needs of the students, the infrastructure and resources available and to improve the quality of education, projections for the next year were decided upon, which are as follows: It was resolved that consistent and continuous efforts should be made by all members of the staff to further improve the quality of education and both teachers and students should be given exposure for participation and presentations through seminars, workshops, talks functions etc. As proposed construction of another hostel building has been started. Teachers should be motivated to take up Research projects. A second unit of the NSS was introduced in 2009. Activities of placement cell, guidance and counseling unit and alumni association should be further strengthened to comply with the needs of the changing job market. Computer literacy should be imparted to members of teaching and non-teaching members of staff. System of feedback from students should be further streamlined and suggestions implemented. Achievements in brief 1. For the beautification of the college campus experts were invited for the landscaping of the college campus and additional benches were installed for creating more sitting place and dustbins installed so that the campus can be kept litter free. 2. Gymnasium was renovated and the latest equipments installed. 3. A herbal garden has been developed in the college campus. 4. The staff was provided with a new well furnished staff room. 5. The seminar room has been renovated and refurnished with the new furniture. 6. Separate lockers were provided to Class IV employees. 7. The college office and reception have been renovated. 8. A new photostat machine has been installed in the examination room. 9. The construction of the new girls’ hostel in the college campus was started in April 2011. 10.Computer Labs have been renovated during the session 2010-11. 11. A national level seminar sponsored by UGC was organised in the session 2010-11 inthe subject of Economics. 12. The college office is well equipped with the latest software for preparing results and taking fees. 13. Technology upgradtion in the department of Fine Arts, Psychology, Dept. of Sports and computer deptt. was done (details against S.No. 27) PART B Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution: The goals and objectives of Dev Samaj Institutions are very clear. The first and foremost objective of Dev Samaj Institution is to produce equal opportunities for women in education, work and service. The best way to do this is to empower them through education. Along with the specialized education, Dev Samaj intends to provide holistic and value-oriented education, which would turn out such complete human beings as would always strive for the absolute good of mankind. Along with the curricula prescribed by P.U. for dissemination of knowledge, general assembly is held regularly in the college and various functions like Mat-Pita-Santan Diwas, Swami Bhritya Diwas etc. are observed to imbibe in the students the significance of relationships both in the family and at the workplace. Sensitizing the students towards social problems and turning them out to be responsible and responsive citizens, activities like Blood Donation Camp activities of the Peace Club, Red Ribbon Club, Environment Club, N.S.S. and Rotaract Club are a regular feature of the college. 2. Innovations in curricular design and transaction:- The college is affiliated to Panjab University and the syllabus for various courses is prescribed by P.U. As such, this is not possible at the college level. However, the staff members contribute towards it by becoming members of Board of Studies from time to time and sending suggestions through their representatives. 4. Inter-disciplinary programmes started: Add-on-courses like Advertising and Sales Management, Computer Based Accounting, Insurance Business, Communicative English, Cosmetology, Event Management, Web-Designing & Multimedia, and Entrepreneurship are interdisciplinary courses. Keeping in mind the need and value of Inter Disciplinary courses, Diploma course in Communicative English, Webdesigning and Multimedia and Entrepreneurship was started w.e.f. session 2009-10. 5. Examination reforms implemented Students are made to realize the importance of class-room teaching, and internal examination through regular counselling, guidance and an orientation programme. Project work and assignments, seminars for B.Com, BCA PGDCA and BBA students are a regular feature and feed back is given to the students in order to improve the quality of their work. The system of Internal Assessment and project work started by the P.U. also ensures systematic work and regular attendance in class. Registrar examination along with all other members of examination committee ensured smooth conduct of September and December Terminal examination. More than 99% students appeared in the exams, the only absentee being in case of students who were medically unfit. In order to appraise the parents of the progress of their ward the result of terminal exam was sent by post at the residential address. After the Terminal Examinations a parent-teacher meeting was also called to make the parents aware of their ward’s performance. In order to motivate and encourage the students to be regular and do well in the internal examination, Annual Prize Distribution Function was held in March 2011 and position holders at April 2010 annual exams were awarded prizes, merit certificates and scholarships. Cash prizes are awarded every year to position holders in the University examination instituted by many philanthropists. 6. Candidates qualified: NET /SLET/GATE etc. No confirmed data is available. 7. Initiative towards Faculty Development Programme: The Principal and Faculty of the college regularly attend seminars / workshops / refresher courses and present papers to keep themselves abreast of the latest developments in their respective fields. Principal, Dr. Meera Modi attended Principals’ Conference held on April 6, 2010 at Panjab University, Chandigarh and also participated in Principals’ meet held at Academic Staff College, Panjab University, Chandigarh on the theme ‘Higher Education and its Discontents’ on 26th August 2010. She is also member of the Panjab University Sports Committee and actively participates in its meetings held from time to time. She was a delegate at the Special Session of the Section on Anthropological and Behavioural Sciences of the Indian Science Congress on March 26-27, 2011, organised by the Dept. of Anthropology, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Orientation Programme on Ehtics of Environment and Role of Students for Conservation of Environment. One day workshop on Fabric painting and on Aari Work were held in the month of September 2010. Ms. Komal Vadhera from Pidilite conducted a 5-days workshop on painting of articles from November 7-12, 2010. Ms. Prabhjot of Guardian School of Design and Management gave a talk on Computer Aided Designing courses. A two days workshop was conducted by Ms. Sonam, Fevicryl Instructor, on recycling of waste material on January 29, 2011. She demonstrated teh art of making flowers, frames, envelopes, pen holders, vases, invitation cards from newspapers, bottles and other waste material. Students of the Dept. of Fashion Designing organised an exhibition ‘Art Noveaue’ on 15th November, 2010. Items on display included fish aquarium style key holders, flower vases, decorative name plates, diyas, candle stands, jewellery boxes, jute bags and tee shirts. The annual exhibition of Fashion Designing was held on March 1, 2011 fousing on Ethnic, Western and Woollen wear, Knitted and embroidered articles. Community services: At Dev Samaj College for Women we try to live upto our college prayer ‘ The torch bearer of community service in the college is the National Service Scheme wing of the college which carried out the following programmes during the session 2010-11. Mat-Pita Santan Diwas : In keeping with the tradition of Dev Samaj in valuing human relationships, the college celebrated Mat-Pita Santan Diwas on 29.01.2011. Recongnizing the significance of the deeply cherished Parent Child bond the diwas seeks to make studnets realize their debt and duty towards their parents and also to draw our attention towards strengthening the family bonds. Students presented bhajans, songs, skit, poems on the theme of the day. Their efforts were applauded by the parents. Km. Satyawati ji, Chairperson, Dev Samaj College Managing Committee, graced the occasion and also spoke at length on the importance of strong family relationships leading to a secure and strong world. 19. OPAC Search : This servie has already been provided in the library & more members especially students are getting used to this service provided in the library. Reference & Information service : In addition to the traditional information & reference sources available in the library. The library started adising & guiding the students & the faculty members about the web resources & reference sources available on the internet. E-mail/Internet Search on demand : Ths serivce is on demand as the infrastructure is limited and yet to be expanded. Newspaper clippings service : Newspaper clippings about the college are made accessible in the library. SDI (Selective Dissemination of Information) services : The library has providing S.D.I. service to the faculty members who are engaged in research activities. Electronic Information Service: The library has started providing the E-information Services to the students and faculty from internet, online databases and CD-ROM databases. Internet search services: The library started providing on demand the internet search services for the academic pursuit of students and faculty members. E-reference services: The library has started providing the e-ready references service for the members of the library based on Electronic Reference Sources, like Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, directories etc. and also the internet. Bibliography service : In anticipation of the faculty members, subject bibliographies are provided. Digitization: Newspaper clippings from 1981 to 2009: Newspaper clippings available in the library have been digitized and library has created a database of news paper clippings from 1981 to 2009. Now this is available in the CD. OPAC: An updated system for accessing the online catalogue (OPAC) has been provided to the users in the library. Migration to Integrated Library Management System : LibSys Software. Member of INFLIBNET Centre : N-LIST (National Library and Information Services infrastructure for Scholarly Content) for accessing to e-resources for the staff and students of the college. 22. Course in which student assessment of teachers is introduced and the action taken on students feedback: Students Evaluation programme and student feedback on teachers is taken at the end of each year. Students are randomly taken to fill the forms i.e students from different department i.e. B.A / B.Com / BCA / PGDCA about 70% shared their views. Most of them were satisfied with the infrastructure, students, teacher’s relationship and other facilities provided by the college. They appreciated the co-operation, encouragement and help provided by the teachers in building up their confidence and personality development. The college is also trying to provide transportation facility so that students coming from far off places can avail it. 24. Unit cost of education: - Rs. 32,054/- 25. Computerization of administration and the process admission and examination results, issue of certification: - of Earlier M.S. Office was used in the office but from April 2007, the college has switched over to Management Software which includes the following modules: (a) Fee Administration: - This module of software provides full control over fee – management with features like automatic calculations of fee, course wise, automatic printing of fee – bills, monthly, quarterly, half yearly, yearly fee collection details, list of pending fee student wise course wise and class-wise, list of students who have left the college, fine charged etc. (b) Students record: This module keeps a record of students admitted with subjects offered, lectures attended and various types of returns as per prescribed university returns. It also keeps a record of the marks obtained by the students in the terminal as well as final examination. (c) Salary Management: This module maintains the faculty record like salary, P.F. statement, details of loans, advances. Salary calculation fixed or daily basis) are also maintained. (d) Other records like U.G.C. Grants, funds, general fund and expenditure account are also computerized. The process of admission: All admissions are made by the college strictly in accordance with the regulations / rules contained in latest university / calendars / guidelines any other instructions which have been issued by the university from time to time, for various course. The merit list is made for different course having limited seats according to the university rules and regulations. After admission registration returns are sent to the university in computerized form along with the hard copy. Examination results: - Different registers are maintained to keep the records of the September, December and Annual results. But in the new session, the record will be maintained by the new academics module of the college management software which has been installed in our computers since April 2007. Issue of Certificate: The records of certificates that are issued by the university are also maintained in the examination register. Computer and internet access and training to teachers and students: Our college has five computer labs with Language lab. All have networking systems having 169 computers with BSNL Broad Band Connection. This has made it easy for the teachers and the students to access the internet during their free periods. 29. Financial aid to students: The needy and meritorious students are regularly provided with the financial aid in the form of scholarship and free education. Total financial aid provided was Rs. 12,60813/- during the session 2010-11. The details of the scholarships given to the students during the academic session 2010-11 are as follows: 22 college toppers were given scholarships and three students were given total freeship on merit-cum-means basis. 14 students were given full/half fee concessions out of scholarship fund, students aid fund and red cross fund. 20 students were given free boarding & lodging. 6 students were exempted from paying mess charges for the session 2010-11. The college and other benevolent donors have given liberal financial aid, scholarships and fee concessions to a number of students. 35 Students have been given scholarships, fee concessions and financial aid by individual donors. Six scholarships are donated by the Alumni Association of the college. Mrs. Vimal Bhargava scholarships worth Rs. 50,000/- were given by her husband, Sh. C.M. Bhargava to 6 toppers and 6 students who stood 2nd in the college. Two students were given scholarship from Sita Gandotra Endowment fund constituted by Mrs. Renu Anand, co-ordinator, Hobby classes in the college. Two students were given scholarships worth Rs. 1500/- each by the Principal Dr. Meera Modi. Two students were given scholarships from the fund constituted by Bombay Photo House in memory of his father Lt. Sh. Lala Amar Nath. Four students were awarded cash prize of Rs. 500/- each to students of economics by Mrs. Pankaja Vashisht, Lect. In Economics, DSCW-45 B, Chd. Two students were given scholarships of Rs. 1000/- by Dr. Punam Gupta. Two students were given scholarships of Rs. 1000/- each by Mrs. Tejinder Kaur. Four students were given scholarships of Rs. 500/- each by Mrs. Mridula Aggarwal. Two students were given scholarships worth Rs. 1500/- each by Sh. Mela Ram Verma. Two students were given scholarships worth Rs. 2000/- each by Sh. Anil Verma. Three students have received the Delhi based Sitaram Jindal Foundation scholarship. Three students have been awarded scholarships by the Chandigarh Administration under the minorities category scheme, Four under the Hindi Promotion Scheme and one under the Reserved category scheme. Guru Harkrishan Society scholarship was availed by one student. Besides this, the college provides free education to the wards of employees All toppers of the college in various university examinations were given free education. Only the DPI and university charges were taken from them. 30. Activities & support from the Alumni Association: A meeting of the Alumni Association is held annually. The number of scholarships from the association fund is six. Activities like organization of blood donation camp and adopting atleast one child for teaching were also discussed. The project of beautification of the entry point of the road leading to the college was also taken up by the Municipal Corporation with the active involvement of Ms. Kamlesh, Ex-Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. 31. Activities & support from the parent teacher association: The College does not have any Parent-Teacher Association. 32. Health Services: There is a first aid room in the college and all types of essential medicines are readily available for first aid treatment with the in-charge of first aid committee. An amount of Rs. 5000/- is spent every year for purchase of medicines. Services of a panel of qualified doctors are readily available. Dr. Vandana M.D. private practitioner, who has her clinic with in a distance of about 2 kms. from college visits the college hostel once a week and if any hosteller required any health services other than this, she attends to the patients in her clinic without charging any fee. In case of emergency, girls are taken to Govt. Medical Hospital which is just 2 kms. away from the college. NSS volunteers of the college participated in the Pulse Polio Drive organised by Chandigarh Administration. A Medical camp was organised for the residents of Burail and students of the college with the help of Chatinya Hospital. Talk on Breast Cancer was organised in the college. A workshop on Responsible Sexual Behaviour was held by the team headed by Mrs. Meenakshi Agnihotri, Asstt. Professor, National Institute of Education, PGI, Chandigarh. Yoga classes were held in the college for the benefit of the students. Students of the college visited the Red Ribbon Express at the Chandigarh Railway Station which provides basic knowledge about AIDS. On Nov. 22, 2010, Blood donation camp was organised by the NSS wing of the college in collabortion with Rotract Club. Rally was taken out to mark the World AIDs Day on Dec. 1, 2010. Members of the Hope Club visited the Regional Institute of Mentally Retarded Children in Feb 2011. 33. Performance in sports activities National Level In sports we achieved a new milestone. Komalpreet of B.A I got Silver Medal in Epee team and Dalvir Kaur, also of B.A. I bagged Silver Medal in Sabre team in the National Fencing Championship. Inter-University Level Geeta of B.A. 3rd year and Priya of B.A. 1st year were members of Panjab University Kho-Kho team which won Gold Medal in the North Zone Inter University tournament. State Level At the state level our Kho-Kho, Ball Badminton and Fencing teams were declared the Senior State Champions. Komalpreet and Gurwinder bagged Gold Medal in Epee team and Dalvir Kaur got Gold Medal in Sabre team in Senior State Fencing Championship. Our students Neetu and Priyanka of B.A. 1st year clinched Gold Medal in Judo in 52kg and 48kg weight category respectively in Senior State Championship. Inter-College level Our Kabbadi and Gymnastics teams were declared the Panjab University champions. Neetu Singh of B.A. 1st year bagged two Gold Medals. One in intercollege Wrestling competition and another in Judo competition. The Fencing team of our college bagged 3rd position at the Intercollege competition. The college Ball Badminton team bagged Bronze medal in the Intercollege championship. Priyanka, a student of B.A. 1st year won Bronze Medal in Judo in 52kg weight category. Moti Chandan of B.A. 2nd year was declared the Best Athlete of the College at the 28th Annual Sports day held on 24th February 2011. 34. Incentives to outstanding sports persons: Outstanding sports persons are awarded with Roll of Honour, College Colour, Blazers, Tracksuits and Trophies at the Annual prize Distribution Function. Activities of the guidance and counseling unit: Career Seminars : On 3rd August, 2010 Karrox, a company specializing in Data Security and Software training informed the students about threats while using internet, e-mail, chatting etc and gave live demonstration of various safety measures to protect their e-mails and on-line bank accounts from hacking. On 10th August, 2010 Infomaths conducted a seminar wherein BCA students were given guidance in the field of IT and also informed about the latest technology being used in Software development by the IT companies. In a counselling session conducted by NIIT on 18th August, 2010 students were made aware of various career options in networking. A workshop for BCA students was organized at NIIT centre, Sector 32, Chandigarh to give them hands-on experience on the set up at NIIT and also about CISCO and CCNA certificate. Bull’s Eye, on 13th October, 2010 counselled the students about viable options after graduation. IT LIFE organized an interactive session on Oracle for BCA students and job market value of the various certifications. Ifbi, a venture of NIIT counselled our students about careers in banking and financial service sector. On 19th November, 2010 Career Launcher, a leading edu-corporate organized an on campus event – TYCOONS. In the first round of competition 125 students took the test. Selected students became eligible to participate in the next level of competitions. On 20th January, 2011, IIPM organized a management oriented seminar targeted at career counselling and personality development including communication skills. Guardian School of Design and Management, on January 24, 2011 conducted an interactive counselling session for Fashion Designing, Fine Arts and Event Management students to make them aware of courses available in fashion designing, interior designing, jewellery designing, retail management and event management. IBM Daksh visited the college on 20th August, 2010. Out of 66 students who participated in the recruitment drive held in three rounds 36 students were selected. Out of theses 16 students were directly hired and 20 would be joining after training. 37. Placement services provided to students: – Placement cell of the college plays an active role in inviting companies to the college making arrangements for presentations, group discussions and interviews. It also encourages the students to participate in placement tests organized at different colleges. 38. Development programmes for non-teaching staff: Advances and loans are given to members of the non-teaching staff as and when requested by them. Training has been given to all members of the non-teaching staff for computer literacy. 39. Healthy Practices: National Service Scheme is adopted by the College to instill the virtues of selfless service, amity and integrity amongst the students. The college has two units of NSS consisting of 200 volunteers working under the guidance of Programme Officers Mrs. Renu Kalra and Mrs. Sabina Chadha. We take pride in the extension activities carried out by our volunteers under the National Service Scheme. Sadbhavana Diwas was observed on 20th August, 2010 by holding Drawing and Patriotic song competitions for students of Govt. Primary School, Burail. A rally was also taken out to spread the message of national integration. My Earth My Duty Day was celebrated on 25th August, 2010. Principal Dr. Meera Modi alongwith the NSS Programme Officers and volunteers planted more than 50 environmental friendly plants. Various competitions such as Poster making, Slogan writing, Face painting, Tshirt painting were organized on the theme ‘Go Green, Save Environment’. International Literacy Day : On September 8, 2010 an Essay writing competition was held on the topic ‘Role of Youth in Millennium Development : Opportunities and Challenges’. Best three entries by Pallavi Arya (BCA II), Priyanka(B.Com III), Rakhi (B.Com II) were sent for participation in National Level Essay writing competition in Tamil Nadu. N.S.S. Day : An Essay writing competition on the topic ‘Role of Youth in NSS’ was held in the college on 24th September, 2010 to mark the importance of this day. Ramandeep Kaur of B.Com II and Trichy Chauhan of B.Com II stood 1st and 2nd respectively. Quomi Ekta Week was observed by holding a Blood Donation camp in collaboration with GMCH-32 and the College Rotaract Club on 23rd November, 2010. 60 units of blood was collected. World AIDS Day : A candle light procession was taken out to mark the World AIDS Day on December 1, 2010. Pulse Polio Campaign and NRHM Project : Senior NSS volunteers of the college attended a seminar under the 3rd project of NRHM. As part of this they received training and conducted surveys in Burail and submitted the report to NRHM committee. 20 volunteers, trained as vaccinants by the doctors from the health department of Chandigarh Administration, carried out immunization during the Pulse Polio Drive in Chandigarh. N.S.S. volunteers Bharti (BCA III) and Pallavi Arya (BCA II) attended two days Regional Workshop on Legal Awareness Regarding Domestic Violence Act, RTI Act at Chandigarh Judicial Academy. 7 days Special Day-Night Camp was held in the college from Oct 1-7, 2010. Following activities were carried out during this camp : - Volunteers participated in the World Peace Parade Rally on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti from Parade Ground, Sector 17 to Panjab University, Chandigarh. - Mr. Vijay Kumar Malhan, a devout disciple of Swami Ramdev ji took regular Yoga classes. - Under the ‘Friends of Sure’ programme by Hindustan Unilever Limited personalities from IMS, HUL interacted with students regarding personality development and grooming. - A medical camp was organized for the volunteers and residents of Burail with the help of Chatinaya Hospital. - Art and Craft workshop was held for three days with the help of Mrs. Nirmal of Pidilite faculty. - A workshop on ‘Responsible Sexual Behaviour’ was held by the team headed by Mrs. Meenakshi Agnihotri, Asstt. Prof., National Institute of Nursing Education, PGI, Chandigarh. - A talk on Breast Cancer by the team of Rani Breast Cancer Trust was organized for the benefit of the volunteers and women of village Burail. - Nukkad Natak ‘Chhoti Si Dulhan’ and ‘Kya Meena School Jayagi’ were presented by the volunteers in Burail to make the residents of the village aware of the social evil of child marriage and the importance of educating girls. - Herbal Garden Project was completed during the camp. - Waste management project took off to a flying start under the supervision and training of an employee of Bangalore based Maple Orgitech Company. On the concluding day of the camp Best Out of Waste competition was held. The volunteers created wall hangings, photo frames, statues and a village scene out of waste material. Their effort was appreciated by Sh. Nek Chand ji, Founder and Director of Rock Garden, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Political Socialization Elections to the Students Council of the college are held every year according to the schedule announced by Panjab University. The whole process sensitizes our students regarding the value of their vote, inculcating in them a sense of responsibility. A 16 member students’ council was elected consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Jt. Secretary, Class Representatives and Nominated students. Sports Physical growth and well being are an important dimension of development for which our college provided ample scope. Our students brought laurels to the college by winning medals in State and National level medals in athletics, weight and power lifting, Ball-Badminton and wrestling competitions. Details given under Sr.No. 33 of the report. Annual sports Meet of the college was held on Feb. 24, 2011 in which a large number of students participated. National Cadet Corps The N.C.C. unit of the college consists of 40 cadets. The cadets are groomed under the able guidance of Mrs. Jaspal Bhatia and Ms. Manu Rani. The N.C.C. cadets were involved in various activites conducted by the NCC unit throughout the year. The college NCC cadets took active part in the Save Sukhna Lake Abhiyan on May 14 and 15, 2010. Four cadets, Sunil Rani, Pretty Verma, Sukhvir Kaur, Divya Sharma participated in the Shooting Camp held at GCG-42, Chandigarh. Pulkit, Seema and Mamta participated in the All India Girls Trekking Expedition (Punjab Trek-2010) held at Paprola, Distt. Palampur. Under the leadership of Minisha Jindal, the senior most cadet of our college, 53 cadets of ‘B’ certificate and 17 of ‘C’ certificate attended the Annual Training camp held at Shahtalai from October2-11, 2010. Our cadets won 1st prize in Giddha, 3rd prize in Solo Dance, Shooting, Drill and Best Discipline. Rupinder, Monika Pal and Divya Sharma attended National Integration camp he ld at Odisha from Oct. 21st Nov.1,2010. Monika Pal got 1 prize in Solo Dance and Divya Sharma bagged 1st prize in Bhangra during this camp. Two cadets of our college participated in the National Integration Camp held at Amritsar from Nov.26-Dec.7, 2010. Six cadets of the college attended the Annual Training camp held at Sector 26, Chandigarh from Nov.17- 27, 2010. From Jan.27- Feb.5, 2011 eight cadets participated in the last ATC of the session. Pre-Republic day camp was attended by cadet Jasleen of B.A. 1st year. Enjoyment and Educational Trips The freshers’ and farewell parties for college students and hostel residents organized every year, go a long way in developing and enhancing the organizational and management skills and stage confidence in our students. 65 students from the Departments of Political Science and Sociology were delegates at a seminar on ‘Politics and Human Rights’ organized by Global Human Rights Council on August 7, 2010 at Musafir Auditorium, Sector 24, Chandigarh. The Dept. of Fashion Designing organized a one day trip to Patiala to visit small scale Phulkari units and Punjabi ‘Jutti Bazzar’ in the month of February 2011. The Dept. of History organized a historical cum excursion trip to Amritsar on January 30, 2011. Students visited Golden Temple, Jalianwala Bagh and Wagah border. They also enjoyed the ‘beating the retreat’ ceremony at Swarn Jayanti Gate. Students of Psychology Club-‘Hope’ visited the Regional Institute of Mentally Retarded Children on Feb. 25th, 2011 to know various selfcare and adaptive skills taught to these special students. Career options Career counseling and guidance cell of the college, in collaboration with various institutes organized seminars and presentations regarding career options in various field such Animation, Aviation and Hospitality Industry, Business, Fashion Technology, Advertising, Accounting & Finance and Armed Forces. 40. Linkages developed with national /international academic / research bodies : The college has a membership of the British Library and our students participate actively in all the activities and competitions organized by the British Library. PART C Detailed Plan for the session 2011-12 Following are the proposals made for the development and progress of the college : 1. For the beautification of the college campus a proposal has been drawn up. For which experts will be invited for the landscaping of the college campus and additional benches installed in the lawns to create more sitting place for the students. 3. Indoor games will be added for the recreation of the hostel students. 4. A herbal garden will be developed in the college campus. 5. A waste management / garbage management plant will be setup in the college campus. 6. A bigger staff room will be provided to the staff and furnished. The proposal is also to provide a computer with internet connection in the staff room. 7. The proposal is also to provide the psychology lab, fine arts lab, fashion designing lab and the hostel with a computer. 8. The seminar room will be renovated and refurnished with new furniture. 10. Separate lockers will be provided to the Class IV employees. 11. The college office and reception will also be renovated. 12. A new photostat machine will be installed in the examination room. 13. A detailed plan of the new hostel is almost ready and the construction will start soon. 14. A plan has also been drawn up to renovate the computer labs and replace old computers with new ones (with the latest windows). 15. The college office will purchase a software for preparing results and taking fees. 16. A proposal each has been sent to the UGC and the ICSSR to organize seminars in the coming session 2010-11. PART C Detailed Plan for the session 2011-12 Following are the proposals made for the development and progress of the college : 1. The proposal is to renovate the Staff Room, Fashion Designing Lab, Fine Arts Lab and Psychology Lab. The Staff room & labs will also be provided with internet facility. 2. Keeping in view the popularity of the food court in the college, additional, seating capacity will be created by installing more tables & chairs. 3. UGC Resource centre will be set up. 4. Acs will be installed in the library. 5. Two floors of the new hostel will be constructed. 6. New equipments worth Rs. 5 lakh will be purchased for the Gym. 7. Proposal is to start the construction of the Administrative Block. 8. National level seminar will be organised by the Dept. of Commerce. 9. Fresh stock of books worth Rs. 1 lakh in various streams will be purchased for the library. 10. A new generator exclusively for the college will be purchased. 11. Blackboards in the classrooms which need to be replaced will be provided with new and better blackboards. 12. Proposal is to install solar lights on the campus. 13. Water coolers with RO system will be installed. 14. New parking area will be earmarked and cemented. 15. Renovation of corridors, bathrooms and staircase in Block I will be done. 16. Dept. of BCA will be provided with a new projector and software. 17. Fresh uniforms will be provided to the class IV employees. 18.
