1. League of Nations: international org
designed to keep the peace
2. Germans forced to:
–Give up a lot of land in Europe & all of its
overseas colonies
• Rhineland = demilitarized (no military)

• Claim “war guilt”: total responsibility
for war
• Pay reparations: pay back cost of war
($33 billion over 30 years)
• Limit size of military:
–NO air force, submarines, aircraft
–Can’t make or buy weapons
–Military of 100,000
