BIOLOGY CALENDAR
SEMESTER 1, WEEK 16
TOPICS: Intro to Genetics
CA State Standards Covered This Week:
a. Students know new combinations of alleles may be generated in a zygote through the fusion of male and female gametes (fertilization).
b. Students know why approximately half of an individual’s DNA sequence comes from each parent.
c. Students know the role of chromosomes in determining an individual’s sex.
d. Students know how to predict possible combinations of allele in a zygote from the genetic makeup of the parents.
e. Students know the genetic basis for Mendel’s laws of segregation and independent assortment
f. Students know how to predict the probable outcome of phenotypes in a genetic cross from the genotypes of the parents and mode of inheritance
(autosomal or X-linked; dominant or recessive)
NOTICE: DO ALL GENETICS WORKSHEETS IN PENCIL – IT IS VERY EASY TO MAKE MISTAKES

There is a Review Sheet for the Fall Semester Final Exam under Miscellaneous Files that looks like
this: COLLEGE-PREP BIOLOGY FALL FINAL EXAM REVIEW - 2015.doc. Final Exams are Tuesday Jan 26-Thursday
