RANDOM FACTS • A study of one million students in New York showed that students who ate lunches that did not include artificial flavors, preservatives, and dyes did 14% better on IQ tests than students who ate lunches with these additives. • McDonald''s salads contain up to 60% more fat than their burgers! • From the age of thirty, humans gradually begin to shrink in size. •Women are twice more talkative than men! It has been estimated that on average, men speak 12,500 words and women speak about 25,500 words in a day. •The average number of thoughts that humans are believed to experience each day is 70,000 •Every time you recall a memory or have a new thought, you are creating a new connection in your brain. Food and Autism GENETIC ENGINEERING FACTS-SOURCE CENTERS FOR FOOD SAFETY •Human health effects can include higher risks of toxicity, allergies, antibiotic resistance, immune-suppression and cancer. •As for environmental impacts, the use of genetic engineering in agriculture will lead to pollution, plant and animal species with extinction. FOOD ALLERGIES AND AUTISM •Gluten and milk protein (casein) •eggs, tomatoes, eggplant, avocado, red peppers, soy and corn. •Pregnant women with allergies, psorasis, diabetes, and asthma CLONING •“In January 2008, the FDA essentially told the public that the meat and milk from cloned livestock “ •Small defects in clones are common which can lead to food safety problems. •Inbreeding which leads to the animals having weaker immune systems. Which means animals are fed more antibiotics. •Cow milk will be the first item introduced EPIGENETICS Epigenome- chemical tags that sit on top of and around DNA. The epigenome controls when genes turn on or off and how loudly they express your genetic programming. FOOD HABITS CAN CHANGE YOUR GENES • A two-year-old study, conducted by Randy Jirtle of Duke University Medical Centre in Durham, North Carolina, which showed that the activity of a mouse's genes could be influenced by food supplements eaten by its mother just prior to or during the early stage of pregnancy. the researchers injected L-methionine, a common amino acid and food supplement, into the brains of wellreared rats. The amino acid methylated the glucocorticoid gene, and the animal's behaviour changed. • Scientists exposed lab animals to a particular pesticide. Expectantly they exhibited neurological damage and autistic like behaviors. Here's the catch - they compared the animals hard genes before and after exposure and determined they were undamaged. They then bred the animals... Surprisingly four generations later the great great siblings exhibited the same percentage of autistic like behavior and neurological damage - even though they were never directly exposed to pesticides and it would not be found in their blood stream. • • SOURCES http://www.medindia.net/news/view_news_main.asp?x=5768#ixzz1eM9FACpd http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39334083/ns/health-cancer/t/can-you-change-how-your-genes-act/#.Tsnxe6N5mK0 http://www.autismone.org/content/can-epigenetics-explain-autisms-causes • • • • • One fast food hamburger may contain meat from 100 different cows. Every month, about 9 out of 10 American children visit a McDonald’s restaurant. Grilled chicken sandwiches and salads on fast food menus, might contain beef. – For example chicken McNuggets contain several beef additives disguised generally with secret names like “extract” or “essence”. Current offenders include Wendy’s Grilled Chicken Sandwich and KFC’s Grilled Chicken Sandwich Propylene Glycerol used for antifreeze keeps your salad crispy . – This chemical, also comes with alerts like skin and eye irritation if exposed to the human body. It is generally used in products like Sierra Anti Freeze and even worse Astroglide Sexual Lubricant . Some yogurts contain beef or pork gelatin. – The gelatin used in most leading brands of yogurt is derived from beef and/or pork. Many products containing Glycerin or its pseudonym, Stearic Acid have animal by-products. Stearic acid comes from beef tallow and Glycerin comes in synthetic or natural form, but usually has beef tallow as an added ingredient also. The GM-fed babies were also smaller, and later had problems getting pregnant. • When male rats were fed GM soy, their testicles actually changed color — from the normal pink to dark blue. Mice fed GM soy had altered young sperm • US, about two dozen farmers reported thousands of pigs became sterile after consuming certain GM corn varieties. Some had false pregnancies; others gave birth to bags of water. Cows and bulls also became infertile when fed the same corn • US population, the incidence of low birth weight babies, infertility, and infant mortality are all escalating. • The gene inserted into GM soy transfers into the DNA of bacteria living inside our intestines and continues to function. This means that long after we stop eating GMOs, we may still have potentially harmful GM proteins produced continuously inside of us.
