Homework# 9
Focus: Examining the causes and effects of the Renaissance era
1. Compare and contrast the period (Middle Ages/Dark Ages/Medieval Ages) with
the period during/after the Renaissance era.
Middle Ages/
Dark Ages/
Medieval Ages
Both periods (Middle Ages Renaissance
& Renaissance)
2. Based on your findings, did the Renaissance help or hurt European society,
economy, governments, etc.? Write a paragraph in which you answer this
question, including


Positive aspects/effects of the Renaissance
Negative aspects/effects of the Renaissance
3. Explore the causes and effects of the Renaissance.
1. Carefully read 15.1 – 15.2.
2. Create an outline that includes the main points of the two sections (Don’t
copy the entire two sections – just focus on what you deem to be
important in connection to what we have been doing throughout the first
two weeks of the school year).
3. Using the notes from your outline, write a paragraph in which you answer
the following question: Was trade primarily responsible for the
“renaissance”? In your answer, talk about the revival of trade and connecting
parts [investments, banks, capital gain, market economy, etc.] and whether
or not they played an integral [important/key] role in the development and
growth of the Renaissance era.
Hint: Think of life before trade [feudalism] and then the impact of trade: both
the good & the bad.
