Course Description and Course Objectives: The focus of the course continues to spiral the curriculum towards
Checkpoint C. Listening, speaking, reading, writing, and culture are assessed daily. The required textbook is Buen Viaje
2. All assignments are due on the date assigned. Late assignments will be marked down, except in the case of
legitimate/legal absence. You will have 3 days to make up assignments due to absence.
Course Prerequisite: Spanish II
Evaluation:
90% Summative Assessment (Chapter Quizzes and Chapter Tests)
10% Workbook and Class participation (Workbook and Class Participation)
Course Outline:
Review topics: Las compras para la escuela, amigos y alumnos, la familia, los deportes, un viaje en avión, la
rutina y la salud, and el verano and el invierno.
New material topics:
 Leisure—Los pasatiempos and De Tiendas.
 Public and Private Services—Telecomunicaciones.
 Travel—El vuelo and En el Hotel.
Linguistic Components (basic vocabulary and useful structures)
 Leisure—Los pasatiempos and De Tiendas. Future of regular verbs. Comparatives and superlatives. The
preterite and the imperfect tenses. Two actions in one sentence. Verbs like querer and creer in the past tense.
The passive voice.
 Public and Private Services—Telecomunicaciones. The imperfect tense of –ar verbs. The imperfect tense of –er
and –ir verbs. The imperfect tense of the verbs ser and ir. Use of the imperfect tense.
 Travel—El vuelo and En el Hotel. Future of irregular verbs. Direct object pronouns. The conditional tense. The
conditional irregular verbs. Two complements with “se”.
