FACTOR-LABEL METHOD
1. Write the number and the units you are starting with (the “given” information) as a fraction with a
one (1) as the denominator (1st fraction)
2. Find the appropriate conversion factor (relationship between the starting units and the finishing units)
3. Set up the conversion factor (2nd fraction):
-The units you are starting out with go on the bottom (denominator) so that they cross-off
-The units you want to end up with go on the top (numerator)
4. Multiply the numerators
5. Multiply the denominators
6. Divide the numerator by the denominator
7. Write your answer including the units
