Status of WIENER crates 10/10/12 VF & VB 1 Painful failures story • PS 7354 0005: o o o o o July: Failure during re-programming Broken inductor (damage attributed to NA62) Repaired and re-programmed Delivered to PH-ESE for checking “card cage” – “power supply” incompatibility (October) The unit did fail as soon as was plugged it in manual test bench • PS 7354 0007: o o o o o o 10/10/12 Successfully re- programmed by Mauro Was used in LAV3 July: “When no load, the value of 3.3V increases continuously from 3.3 up the security value 3.5V and then the crate is switched off by the security system.” Was tested in CEDAR bin Broken 18μH inductor (damage attributed to NA62) Repaired and re-programmed VF & VB 2 Painful failures story • PS 7354 0004 o o o o o Successfully re- programmed by Mauro Was used in KTAG End of Dry Run: “The fan tray connected to this PSU gets all LEDs ON as soon as the mains power is connected (even when the main switch is OFF). The PSU stays like that and it is impossible to turn it ON” “Echange std de la carte MUH, d'un ventilateur de module et du switch I/O vert » Re-programmed back to 12V (STRAW PS) • Fan tray 7104 0135 Was used in KTAG o Middle of Dry Run: “The fan tray connected to this PSU gets all LEDs ON as soon as the mains power is connected (even when the main switch is OFF)” o “Echange std de la carte uP et test du fan tray » o 10/10/12 VF & VB 3 Fault source search • Suspicion of false set-up during the re-pr0gramming • Following this first repaired unit, Elcotron recommended NA62 to measure the • impedance between the power pins and the DSUB 9p of all NA62 crates in order to make sure that no short was present in those crates. NA62 did those measurements and did not find any short in any of their crate. Andreas Koster (WIENER): “We discussed the problem here, and another idea rose: We had some destroyed inductors (together with the SYSRESET transistor) in standard crates because a customer connected +12V to the SYSRESET line. I think the backplane in the NA62 setup has the SYSRES signal available, too. So may be there is a bin (or a VME card) which connects the SYSRES line to unallowed voltages?” 10/10/12 VF & VB 4 Where we are • Fortunately : Spare components are available o WIENER/Elcotron shows understanding and will to help us o • With good luck we should have all our power supplies and KTAG bin back this week • The fault source search should continue (particular attention to MUV3 and KTAG crates). 10/10/12 VF & VB 5
