College Credit Opportunity for Teachers & Students College Credit for Teaching Faculty • OIT will offer high school teachers graduate or undergraduate college credits • Teachers successfully complete the 2-week 80-hour STI • Receive 6 credits in OIT’s Master of Science level technology course, • • • • Will be required to submit portfolio from the PLTW class Final Exam Analysis Project Lesson Plan Development Project • ENGT 507 “Seminar in PLTW Principles of Engineering” • ENGT 507 “Seminar in PLTW Introduction to Engineering Design” • etc. • 6 credits cost $800 College Credit for Teaching Faculty • OIT proposal to Oregon University System • Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies – 45 Credits Total • Complete any 4 PLTW courses on OIT campus – 24 credits • Complete 2 online courses – 9 credits • 1st course taken within one year of program – 4 credits • 2nd course is a capstone class taken after all PLTW courses - 5 credits • Transfer of 12 credits from any accredited graduate program College Credit for High School Students • OIT will award 3 college credits to high school students that successfully pass each PLTW course with the following restrictions: • High School PLTW Program and faculty must be certified through required procedure – that procedure is administered by the affiliate university. • Student must receive > 85% in high school course. • Student must receive > 70% on the college credit portion of the final exam (parts A & C of the nationally-normed exam distributed by the national PLTW organization). • May use the model of OIT’s “Advanced Credit Program” • $25 per credit, free to qualified students • ENGT 207 “Seminar in Principles of Engineering,” etc. College Credit for High School Students • OIT programs will evaluate credits on a “program specific” basis PLTW Course/University Credits OIT Programs IED POE Civil Engineering 2 1 CIM EDD 3 3 Elect.
