Version 1.2 23-02-2015 ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT JOB TITLE: Quantity Surveyor SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY: Not Safety Related DEPARTMENT: Programme Assurance LOCATION: Nexus House, Newcastle upon Tyne RESPONSIBLE TO: Commercial Manager PURPOSE: To provide estimating, cost management and contract management support in the delivery of multidisciplinary projects within Nexus. Employees: none Budgetary Responsibility: none Financial Responsibility: £0-10m contract values. DIMENSIONS: REMUNERATION: Band 5 ROLE: 1. To support the Project Managers in cost estimating, forecasting and project cost management. to. 2. To assist the Project Managers in the development of tender documentation and provide support contract administration project primarily under NEC3 contracts. 3. To provide cost estimating and cost management in the internal delivery of Capital Projects. RESPONSIBILITIES: The following list is typical of the duties that the post holder will be required to perform. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar type or level may be required from time to time. The post holder will be required to use his or her initiative and work unsupervised for considerable periods of time. Assisting Project Managers in providing financial forecasts and estimates. Assist the Project Managers in preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities. Support to Project Managers in determining final accounts. To establish and maintain estimating databases and metrics to support project Page 1 of 3 Version 1.2 23-02-2015 and programme planning and forecasting. Assist Project Managers in identifying risk mitigation measures. Update cost management and programme management systems. Support Project Managers in evaluating gross certified / invoice data and assessing value of work done at period end. Review and assess internal costs. Develop whole life costs estimates for each scheme. Management of the Early Warnings register. Assist the Project Managers and the Commercial Manager in agreeing compensation events and claims and provision of reporting – primarily under NEC3. Advising Project Managers on project spend through forecasts and reports. Preparing and collating period end reporting. STATUTORY DUTIES: 1. 2. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Essential Chartered Surveyor or working towards Chartered status ( or an equivalent professional body.) Degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline. Able to demonstrate experience of cost and risk management. Good working knowledge of standard Forms of Contract primarily NEC3. Able to demonstrate cost estimating skills. Demonstrable IT skills (Microsoft Office) + Specialist packages. Ability to undertake some site based work.. Desirable Good working knowledge of procurement procedures. Good working knowledge of passenger transport systems and developments. Knowledge of health and safety legislation. SPECIFIC SAFETY QUALIFICATIONS 1. Personal Track Safety. 2.
