Camp Wired Computer Programming
The Computer Lab is on the 2nd floor. The Medina Room is on the 3rd
floor. All classes 9:30am -11:00am. If you have a USB Flash drive bring it
when class is in the Computer Lab. (optional) Also bring a headset or earphones when
in the computer lab if you have them.
Classes are taught using the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system and Microsoft
Office 2010 software.
March 5– (Medina Room) – How to safely buy and Sell online - Looking to buy a new
television or sell your old couch? Have a hobby and looking for an outlet to sell your
handmade items? Learn how to use websites like Craigslist, Etsy and eBay to buy and
sell things online. Presentation and discussion
March 12 - (Computer Lab) – State of Ohio WebQuest (Part 1) - Research and locate
information about all things related to Ohio. We will be using a Web Browser and
Microsoft Word for this activity. You can work individually or with a partner. This class is
a 2-part class due to the amount of work we will be working on. Bring a USB Flash
drive if you have one. This class will be using your findings in 2 weeks to continue this

March 19 - (Medina Room) – Keeping up with Google – We will introduce you to the
latest Google tools and tricks that will make you more productive, taller, and better
looking. Or not. Seriously, though, in this class presentation we’ll attempt the
impossible: We’re going to try to catch up with all of—or at least most of—Google’s
latest inventions. Presentation and discussion
March 26 – (Computer Lab) – State of Ohio WebQuest (Part 2) – We will continue this
hands-on activity and go over our findings. Class activity
April 2 - (Medina Room) – Backing up your computer - Have you ever lost a digital
photo, music mp3 or important document after thinking it was safely saved to your
computer? Come learn how to back up your important data and never lose a file again!

April 9 – (Computer Lab) – YouTube 101 - Did you know that YouTube can do more
than just play a single video at a time? Come learn about channels, subscriptions,

April 16 - (Medina Room) – Spring Cleaning your Computer -Happiness is a clean
computer! You will learn how to properly care for your desktop or laptop computer to
ensure optimal performance through the routine maintenance necessary to keep your
computer running smoothly. You will also learn about some utilities that can accomplish

April 23 - (Computer Lab) –Interactive Online raining using gcfllearnfree.org - We
will all use this website and peruse thru the interactive lessons to give you the
opportunity to experience what interactive training is all about. These tutorials are
available when you are, on your schedule. You can view one lesson or an entire tutorial. And
you don't have to create an account or sign in; you can start learning immediately. If you need
a quick answer, click on the relevant tutorial, view the applicable lesson, and then go on
with your day. Class Activity
April 30 - (Medina Room) – Exploring Windows 7 / Windows 8/8.1- We will have a
Windows 7, Windows 8 & a Windows 8.1 system available. Assistance will be available
for any Windows based questions. We will discuss performance improvements and
review the major features of each Operating system. Bring your questions to class and

May 7 - (Computer Lab) - Keyboard Shortcuts - There’s a secret language on your
computer that is built on two words: keyboard shortcuts. Not only do keyboard shortcuts
save on time, but they’re also your lifeline in keeping your computer running when your
mouse goes down and they save your hand from the repetitive strain of constant
clicking. Besides, technology is going wireless anyway, so why can’t your computer be

May 14 - (Medina Room) – Intro to Microsoft Office Suite & a Look at FREE
Alternatives – Learn what the various Microsoft Office programs can do for you. A look
at PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Access, One Note. Comparison with the FREE
versions of Office Suites: Libre Office and OpenOffice. Presentation and Discussion
May 21 - (Computer Lab) – Microsoft Word 2010 for Beginners - Learn various
editing features that allow you to effectively revise documents. Practice preparing files
using Word’s document templates to begin documents. Make your document stand out!
Explore the different ways to change how text looks. Class Activity
May 28 - (Medina Room) - Picasa - A look at FREE Picasa software. Picasa is a photo
editing application from Google. Learn how to organize, edit, and share photos and
