UCEAP Student Ambassador Program – Description and Application 2015-16 Academic Year UCEAP Student Ambassador: For the 2015-16 academic year, outstanding UC Davis students who participated on UCEAP programs will be selected to receive a $3,000 scholarship in exchange for encouraging students to study abroad and promoting UCEAP. Three student ambassadors will be hired. Ambassadors will work together throughout the year—in coordinating and collaboration with the UC Davis Study Abroad office—to organize outreach activities, give presentations, and engage with interested students at UC Davis about UCEAP programs. Ambassadors will encourage students to visit the Study Abroad office to find more information about applying to UCEAP programs. Responsibilities: UCEAP Ambassadors will work on three creative outreach projects each quarter (on campus and on the Web). Make presentations to various student organizations, clubs, and residence halls. Take part in activities organized by campus study abroad offices including study abroad fairs, open house (i.e. Picnic Day, etc.), and other major tabling events. Respond to student inquiries via email and social media about his/her particular program/university or about life as a UCEAP study abroad student in general. Ambassadors will submit a detailed report at the end of each quarter describing completed activities, achievements, and goals for the next term. Submit sign-in sheets to the Study Abroad office for all events including names, email addresses and country/program of interest for attendees. Communicate effectively to diverse audiences and interact thoughtfully with multicultural constituencies, in part to help increase participation in study abroad by underrepresented groups. Requirements: Undergraduate with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA Completed a UCEAP program (any term) Fully enrolled and available to promote UCEAP on the UC Davis campus for the entire 2015-16 academic year. Able to speak intelligently, enthusiastically, and appropriately about personal experiences on a UCEAP program in front of groups of students. Available to begin as a Student Ambassador at the start of fall term 2015. Able to attend monthly/quarterly campus office staff meetings. Attend a mandatory training in Mid-September (Date: TBD) Scholarship Details: Ambassadors will receive three payments of $1,000 each. The funds will be sent to the UC Davis Financial Aid office which will disperse funds to student accounts at the beginning of each term. As with other UCEAP scholarships, funds will first replace loans, then grants for students receiving financial aid.
