Objective: Students will use spelling patterns/rules and
print/electronic resources to determine correct spellings.
You will need a piece of manila paper. Fold it in half, then in
half again (hamburger style).
Today & tomorrow, we will travel around to vocabulary
stations to complete activities in each station.
Read the instructions as a group and then get started on the
activity. I will let you know when to switch to the next
station.
You may look at my examples but don’t copy them!
Work fast! You will have 8 minutes in each station, and
any work you do not complete by the end of class
tomorrow will be homework. Have fun!
Station 1: Word Stems Race
1. Choose five of the word stems for our unit and write
them across the top of one section of your paper.
2. One of you may use your phone as a timer.
Set it for one minute.
3. Race against the others in your station to come up
with as many words in 1 minute that contain that stem.
Example: Re
Reorder
Retake
Reuse
4. Now, reset the timer and write words for another
stem. Compare your words with each other.
You may not use my example words!
