We will also discuss Populism MONDAY: and how The Wizard of Oz is an allegory symbolizing the struggles of Americans at the time. Students will watch The Wizard of Oz and complete a character analysis sheet as they view the movie. HOMEWORK: VOCABULARY SENTENCES ARE DUE TOMORROW. (D37, D38, D42) TUESDAY: WEDNESDAY: HOMEWORK IS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PERIOD TODAY. We will finish watching The Wizard of Oz today. After the movie, we will discuss our analysis of each character. Students will then be given a list of real people and events that are symbolized in the movie. Students will work in groups to make connections between the characters in the movie and real life people and events. HOMEWORK: CHAPTER 7 VOCABULARY PUZZLE HOMEWORK IS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PERIOD Today, students will receive a study guide for the Chapter 7 test. This will be completed in class for a daily grade. We will spend the second half of class reviewing for our test on Chapter 7 tomorrow. HOMEWORK: STUDY FOR CHAPTER 7 TEST THURSDAY: Students will be tested on Chapter 7 at the beginning of class today. After the test, we will discuss the causes and effects of the Great Depression. Students will view various, short clips from Cinderella Man to demonstrate the effects the Great Depression had on even the wealthiest of people. (D48) HOMEWORK: REFLECTIONS ARE DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PERIOD TOMORROW FRIDAY: LONG-TERM ASSIGNMENTS: RELFECTIONS ARE DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PERIOD TODAY. Students will complete a writing assignment at the beginning of class today. We will review the information that we covered in class on the Great Depression. After a brief review, we will discuss the devastating effects of the Great Flood of 1927 on Mississippi. After our discussion, students will begin viewing Old Man. Old Man is a movie based on a novel by William Faulkner depicting events surrounding the 1927 flood.
