Why America?
Why immigrant people choose American to be their new world? The question is
asked when it is about the American dream. The answer is found on the research named,
“The American Dream as the Cultural Expression of North American Identity” under the
search of Academic search complete. It was published in 2011 by Diana Stiuliuc. American
is chose to be a new paradise of many people. Diana found that Puritan imagines this land
as their dreamland of freedom and a better life to be success such as the Hollywood fame.
The article gives the cause why immigrants escape from their own lands or even
leave their family behind. The first point that is mentioned is about to have equality. In this
new land, it provides the elements of a democracy such as social order, opportunity for
everyone irrespective of the social rank, financial comfort, and public recognition.
Therefore, it can’t refuse for immigrant people persuade by this concept.
The American dream was born and narrated through individual experience. As she
quotes from J.T. Adams in The Epic of America that, “the epic loses all glory without the
dream” (Adams 1921: 412). Although a dream is just an imagination that is hoped to
become true, without dream people won’t have the progress to develop their own self and
that is one of the important factor to be a successful person and meet with the new world. If
those immigrants don’t believe in American dream, they would drag the feet in their same
routines and nothing is going to change.

Without American dream, it won’t have an America nation nowadays. Stiuliuc cites
from Peter Freese who argues that America appeared in the world imagination first as a
vision and a dream, then as a continent and then as a country. Therefore, the American
dream is built once in the old time and it become true because people believe in the dream
that one day there is the land which everyone has equality in their race or, opportunity.
Major ideas:
1. The reason why immigrant people move from their own land to find the better
life. This can help developing a paper in the term of the cause.
2. The reason why people still have to dream about America. Although a dream is
only the imagination which may not come true.
3. The dream that becomes true about American country. This is a beginning of
American dream which people hope that dream will become true like American
country too.
The article describes so many causes about American dream. Also, the reasons why
people still find the better place for their life and try to escape from their difficulty which
they confront everyday. They are rather dream to have a better life which may become true
in some day.
