2. Suppose you have a mixture of sand and salt in water. What is a simple way, using equipment available
in the lab, to separate the sand from the salt? List all steps!
3. How does temperature affect the solubility of benzoic acid in water?
4. If you added 1.0 g of salt and 1.0 g of benzoic acid to 50 grams of water and heated the water to 60oC,
would all the salt dissolve? All the benzoic acid?
5. If you heated the mixture in #4 to 100oC, would all the salt dissolve? All the benzoic acid?
6. If you have 5.0 g of benzoic acid and 5.0 g of salt completely dissolved in 100 g of water at 100oC,
how could you then separate the benzoic acid from the salt? List all steps!
