Monday: Read the following sentences and underline or highlight
each adjective. *Remember to include articles (a, an, the). If a
sentence contains a demonstrative adjective (this, that, these,
those), circle it.

Wednesday: Oops! Ashley’s big mistake got her kicked out of the
school band. But was it really her fault? You decide. Circle all the
adjectives and underline all the adverbs in the letter below.
Dear Mom and Dad,
I have a little problem. Mr. Mills suddenly kicked me out of the
band. He called me a troublemaker. But it’s all a big mistake! Here’s
the whole story:
Remember last Friday when you told me to thoroughly clean my
closet? Well, what I didn’t tell you is that while I was cleaning, I lost
dear Zippy. I took her out of her cozy tank so she could keep me
company. But I must have lost her in my closet. You have repeatedly
told me my closet is ridiculously messy. And you’re right. You wouldn’t
believe the crazy stuff I found in there! Do you remember that
pepperoni pizza we couldn’t find? And Dad, are you missing some fuzzy,
purple slippers? Anyway, I never found poor Zippy.
So I went to the recital. We started playing “Oops…I Did it
Again.” Suddenly the girl next to me screamed loudly. Zippy was
sticking her little, green head out of my saxophone! I swear she was
dancing. The rest of the band was not charmed, and they quickly ran
off the stage. Mr. Willis closed the front curtain. He angrily told me I
was forced from the band!

As he crept slowly into the room, the wind whistled eerily in the trees.
His flashlight played nervously on the pieces of furniture until he
caught some movement behind the couch. "Who's there?" He asked
fearfully. "Surprise!" The group shouted excitedly as they burst from
their hiding places. He grinned sheepishly and collapsed immediately
into a chair.

Molly crept out the door onto the front porch in the early morning.
Their old farmhouse sat comfortably on an acre of grass and gardens,
surrounded by colossal trees. Sounds of distant traffic filtered
through trees. Molly sat on the steps and took a deep breath. Two
robins pecked in the grass looking for slimy worms. Mom's bed of
yellow flowers glowed in the morning light. All of a sudden, three deer
poked through the misty fog. Molly loved their spotted fur. She was
glad that she got up on this beautiful morning!
