Film Essay
I know that everybody in the world has watched at lease one movie no matter what kind
of movie it is I know that almost every boy, girl, woman, and man have a favorite movie. I
remember the first time I watched the movie Love & Basketball. I liked it right away and the
reason being is because I like basketball a lot and I could watch that movie over and over,
because it was interesting and it gave me some facts on what to and what not to do when you
have to choose between your career and the love of your life. My favorite movie is ATL. I
remember the first time I watched ATL I didn’t like it, but as I got older I was learning what the
whole meaning of the movie was. The reasons I liked ATL were the actors, music, and the theme.
The reason why I liked ATL is because I liked the part of Lauren London “New New”
that was her nickname in the movie. She did well in this movie and she played the role as Tip
Harris’ girlfriend and the both knew how to skate and were in skating battles at the skating place
called “CASCADES.” She did well in this movie because she was living a double life and didn’t
get caught until the end not saying that’s good but she played it off well. She acted like she was
living in the “ghetto” when she really lived in a rich neighborhood and went to a charter school.
The other reason why is because the song in the movie where they was in the car on their
way to the skating ring and the song At Your Best came on, and they start singing to each other. I
like romantic scenes like that. The other time when they were at the party Walk it out came on
and they all start dancing. It reminded me of when I was at a party and it got me in the mood for a
party.
This movie taught me a lesson about “when you try to live a double life it will eventually
catch up with you.” The reason being is because there’s a saying “what goes around comes
around” and that is true because if you do something bad or good to a person or do anything in
particular it will always come back to you no matter how long it takes. In this movie Lauren
London got caught by her dad and her boyfriend because she was fooling her dad acting like a
good girl and fooling her boyfriend acting like this “ghetto” girl. So it caught up with her and she
loss her dad’s trust and her boyfriends trust also.
Again ATL is one of my favorite movies because of Lauren London and how well she
performed in this movie and Lauren London is one of the best actors to me right now out of all
the movies I have watched that she played in. The main reasons are the actors, music and theme.
The theme “when you try to live a double life it will eventually catch up with you.” Goes well
with the character Lauren London in this movie and is one thing that everybody needs to know.
Without the music and sound tracks this movie would have not been as good as it was. I don’t
know if they will come out with an ATL 2 but I would hope so and I would like the person to
watch this movie also. If there is an ATL 2 coming out I’m not sure if it will be as good as the
second one because the first is always the best in most cases but we will just have to wait and see.
