Constitution and Bylaws of the Daughters of Isabella

Preamble
Our main object is to unite within the bonds of a great fraternal, beneficial society all
Catholic women of proper age and standing for the following reasons:
1. To become better acquainted
2. To widen our circle of friends
3. To combine our resources and energies for mutual assistance
4. To promote the social and religious upbuilding of our sex
5. To aid our intellectual growth
6. To enable us to fill with more zeal our lot, and to strive for the development of all
that is best and truest in womanhood for the advancement of good in the world
Our society is working in through sympathy and accord with the teachings of the
Catholic Church of which we are members.
Mission Statement





The Order of the Daughters of Isabella is a charitable organization of Catholic
women founded on the principle of its motto: Unity, Friendship and Charity.
We come together as a sisterhood to uphold the teachings of the Catholic
Church, bringing spiritual benefits to our members and contributing to the
common good of humanity.
By our faith we are called to serve, inspired and challenged to do God's work.
We are committed to foster individual participation by way of mutual
understanding, charitable activities and social interaction.
As we strive for the development of all that is best and truest in womanhood, we
emerge in our communities as a positive influence to uphold the high ideals of life
and morals.
Per Capita and Assessments
Each Circle shall pay a per capita tax quarterly. In International board, in case of
necessity, shall have the power to assess a sum not greater than one dollar ($1.00)
upon each member in any one year, excluding per capita.
Membership
Catholic women who love and support the Catholic Church and desire to participate in
spiritual, social, and charitable activities shall be eligible and entitled to membership in
the Daughters of Isabella. They must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
Officers
The nine (9) officers of a Local circle shall be the Regent, Vice Regent, Past Regent,
Financial Secretary, Recording Secretary, Treasurer (and Advisor), Auditor, Chancellor,
and Custodian.
Standing Committees
The six (6) committee of the Circle #1427 shall be Spiritual Activities, Membership,
Social Activities, Advertising, Outreach (Service), and Fundraising.
Meetings
Circles shall hold ten (10) meetings during the year (5 in each semester).
In the event of special elections or meetings, notice shall be given to each member at
least three (3) days before the meeting.
Dues
Each member shall pay dues as specified in the Standing Rules of the Circle. Dues
shall include the per capita tax and assessment levied by the International Circle. If a
member is financially unable to pay dues, the executive officers of the Circle may vote
to waive the payment of her dues for one (1) year.
