o Typed, 12 pt font, double spaced – 1 pt
o Written sections are readable, ideas transitional well – 2 pts
o Headings for each section – 1 pt
o Descriptive title that describes the purpose of the experiment – 1 pt

Abstract (13 pts)
o Write the chemical equation for photosynthesis; for the main product –
carbohydrate, identify the source of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen – 4 pts
o Develop your hypothesis for this part including additional background necessary
to develop this hypothesis. – 5 pts
o Explain the IV and treatment levels (including the control) – 2 pts
o Explain how we measured the photosynthetic rate (leaf disk floating) – 2 pts

Results (be sure your data has a sufficient sample size)
o Create a graph that shows how the IV will affect the photosynthesis – 8 pts
(properly labeled, descriptive title, caption with data trends)
NOTE – I do not need tables or error bars

Discussion (7 pts)
o Citing your results and data trends, explain the biological reason (including any
evolutionary implications – e.g. adaptations for this particular plant) for the
changes in photosynthetic rate as a result of the independent variable you tested.
