To provide students with an overview of concepts and practices associated with cyber security.
To help students understand the types of cyber attacks and the people behind them.
To introduce students to the basic tools and techniques used to defend against cyber attacks.

Exams, Quizzes and Projects 80% of Final Grade
Class Attendance and Participation 20% of Final Grade
Class Participation Criteria:




Less than two unexcused absences
Participation in class discussion
Assist classmates with work
Follow rules of behavior for NYU, the STEP Program and the Class

Class Code of Conduct:

Unauthorized or unapproved access to a computer or network is a CRIME and will not be supported, endorsed or
tolerated within this program. Criminal activity will be reported to the requisite administrators and/or law
enforcement personnel.

Do not copy or distribute any licensed software without written approval of the software distributor.

Do not bang, smash or otherwise mishandle the computers.

No food or drink is allowed on or near the computers.

Do not unplug, rewire or perform any type of maintenance on the computers or equipment without permission.

Do not install any software or web browser plug-ins on any computer without prior written permission.

Do not visit any unauthorized web sites (porn sites, hate sites, vulgar sites, etc.)

If your sponsor or parents would be offended by a web site - don’t go there!

If you accidentally arrive at an authorized site, notify the instructor immediately.

No cursing at or harassing other students. If someone tells you to stop – Do it!

No “trying to hook up with the cutie in the corner” during class time or passing notes. That’s what lunch break is for.

No working on another instructor’s assignment in this class.

Go to the bathroom before class starts or during break.

All discussions are class discussions, no private conversations during class.

No horseplay in class – “Everything is funny until someone loses an eye!”

No matter the situation, always maintain your dignity and integrity!
