ELA Example: Performance Task Part 1: Research and Answer Questions Classroom Activity Ex: What Real Robots Can Do Ex: Technology of the Future Part 2: Full Write Ex: Write a story about what happens when you get a robot of your own. Use information and details from the sources to improve your story. Math Example: Classroom Activity Ex: Students are familiarized with food baskets. They discuss how they are used and how food is selected. Performance Task Ex: Students are given requirements for a food basket and asked a set of questions using mathematics to plan and make decisions about their food basket. Student Preparation IUSD Preparation Since 2011, IUSD teachers have been learning about the Common Core Standards. In 2013, six IUSD schools participated in the Smarter Balanced Pilot Assessment. In 2014, all IUSD schools participated in the Smarter Balanced Field Test. Today, all IUSD schools are technologically and academically prepared for the first year of the fully operational Smarter Balanced Assessments.
