TEIAG members proposed and agreed the following:
1. For 2014, a Beginning Teachers event will be held once a term from Term 2.
2. A survey will be sent to identify the needs and preferences of beginning teachers (see
attached) around focus, support networks, preferred day / time of sessions by 11 March
with return date of 25 March.
3. The first event topic is Behaviour Management 29 April 2014
4. Events will be recorded and published on the Griffith University School of Education
website, with transcripts provided
5. Locations to include Marymount, AB Paterson, Griffith University, Queensland Academies
Health Sciences Campus
6. Griffith University staff to be emailed to determine which of their research they would like
to present that is able to be applied practically for the benefit of individual children.
7. Features of events include - Networking opportunities and the potential for creating cluster
support groups
8. Beginning teachers to be reached through the following possible options: BETA, EQ
Principals, Tracer
9. Potential topics include:
9.1. Dealing with difficult parents
9.2. Teaching literacy
9.3. Teaching numeracy
9.4. Data analysis of class or school data
9.5. Differentiation
