VISION:
Commitment to providing quality higher education to a diverse
student body and to extend the educational opportunities offered to
students to enhance the college experience and take away using the
unique resource the El Paso region has to offer.
MISSION:
Dedication to the advancement of the El Paso region through
education, artistic productions, generation of key discoveries, cultural
and socioeconomic development, and dissemination of knowledge.
GOALS:
To prepare UTEP students with the best education possible, create
opportunities for intellectual growth, create business relationships,
and support efficient administrative and staff services.
STRENGHTS:
WEAKNESSES:
• Problem being addressed directly to • Very few professors or
the president of the university
professionals capable of tutoring
• Supportive student body
upper division courses
• Increase of student’s success in
• Limited time availability from
upper division courses
professors
OPPORTUNITIES:
• Student’s interest in tutoring will
increase
• Better student-professor
relationship
THREATS:
• Programs may be charged as part of
annual tuition
• Short-lived program if student’s are
not responsive


•
We consider student tutor unprepared to give support to other students
effectively, therefore a program like “No Student Left Behind” is needed.
We target:
Students. they are the ones being affected and taking a poll would be
proof for their support.
Professors or professionals. Getting their support by talking to them one
by one would prove for support for the base of the program, that being
qualified tutors.
UTEP’s president. Such program will generate changes all over the
university. by bring the finalized proposal to the president, a more direct
action can be taken.
•
•
•
•
Insufficient tutors available for upper level
classes
When student tutors available, they don’t have
enough experience or credentials to teach
proficiently
Tutoring schedule does not accommodate
student work, school, or internship schedule
Tutoring sessions are not long enough, sessions
only last 90 minutes

Specific recommendations for action, including
a communication strategy that indicates how to
communicate the solution to all who are
affected by the recommendations (the
stakeholders) and explains why this strategy is
the best action to take.
•
•
•
•
Hire professional tutors that can teach multiple
subjects
Fund the tutoring services by raising tuition
costs
Make the tutoring facility open to all students
and at times that everyone could take
advantage of these services
Hiring retired educators or professionals in the
required fields can help prepare for their jobs
after graduation


Identification and rank ordering of the critical issues or concerns that a
solution must address. These will probably focus on the needs and
concerns of stakeholders
We ask that our school takes the initiative to invest in our education by
hiring professional tutors with the proper credentials and experienced
backgrounds to guide those students who have fallen behind, need help
or simply want to get ahead in the course. The sole purpose of going to a
university is to attend an institute of higher education and what better
way of getting a higher education when the students can take advantage
of a fine tutoring program designed to push for a better learning
•
We as the student voice believe that the “No
Student Left Act” is exactly what ever student
needs at least once in their college experience.
Tutoring on campus in every level of subject is
a necessity. The university is responsible for
the performance of every scholar; it is their
duty to ensure the proper education and skills
so that students can meet the academic
requirement for graduation.
