She speaks from the heart about her son’s battle with depression and bipolar disorder, and his suicide at the age of 19. We’ll hear an educational presentation designed to teach young people and the adults in their lives how to recognize a person in emotional or suicidal crisis and connect them with help. February 10, 2016 Linda Westrick “Procedural Safeguards with a hint of the ARD Process” 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Administration Board Room Procedural Safeguards ensure that children with disabilities are provided a free appropriate public education. This workshop will introduce the most prominent rights and responsibilities of children with disabilities and their parents, along with the rights and responsibilities of public agencies. We will also touch on how the ARD process works and why being informed on both is essential to your child receiving a free appropriate public education. April 20, 2016 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Dr. Ray Levy “Strong Willed Child” Managing your difficult child and teen. Regaining control of your house. Administration Board Room Dr. Levy is in private practice in Dallas TX and works extensively with children with ADHD and strong-willed behaviors. In addition to consulting with school systems on working with the high-risk child, he has appeared in numerous radio and television shows discussing various psychological issues.
