In August, 2013, Dr. Robert E. Lee (Bob) started his new position at Florida Gulf Coast

University (FGCU) as an "Assistant Professor" in the Department of Public Affairs. Prior to his appointment, Bob served six years as a member of the faculty at Florida State University's

(FSU) Reubin O'D. Askew School of Public Administration and Policy where he served as the

"Professor of Practice, Senior Executive in Residence" and "Executive Director" of the Center for Florida Local Government Excellence (CFLGE) at the Florida Institute of Government.

During his tenure at FSU, Bob developed an online graduate Certificate in Florida City and

County Management and was formally recognized for his exceptional teaching evaluations and was the recipient of FSU's 2013 student initiated "On-Line Teaching Award." Bob continues to serve as a moderator for training webinars on local government issues for

CFLGE.

Over the last 15 years, Bob has also served as a member of the graduate faculty (Adjunct) at the University of South Florida (USF). Before joining academia full-time, Bob had a rewarding

26 year career in city management serving in the Florida cities of Naples, Gulfport, and

Lauderhill and in Bellevue, Pennsylvania.

Bob has recently (since 2010) published local government articles in the Journal of Public

Affairs Education, Compensation and Benefits Review, and Public Management, and recently wrote five chapters (four on budget and finance) for the Florida County Government Guide.

Bob is a Past President of the Florida City and County Management Association and past recipient of three President's awards for his work on behalf of the association, Past President of the American Society for Public Administration (Sun Coast Chapter) and recipient of their

Picot B. Floyd Public Leadership Award, and is a past member of the Florida League of Cities

Board of Directors and continues to be an active member of their training faculty, notably on ethics and human resource issues.

Bob earned his B.A. and M.P.A. from the University of Pittsburgh and his D.P.A. form Nova

Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale.
