Museum of Discovery and Science’s Leonardo da Vinci Society to learn about
Coding from Author and Social Entrepreneur Felecia Hatcher at the
Code Baby Code event on July 24, 2014.
Fort Lauderdale – July 17, 2014 The Museum of Discovery and Science’s Leonardo da Vinci
Society, in partnership with FPL, presents Code Baby Code featuring the inspirational Felecia
Hatcher, White House Honoree for the 2014 Champion of Change for STEM Access & Diversity
on July 24, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Museum of Discovery and Science.

opportunity to support enlightening programs that make a difference in the communities we
serve. We salute Felicia Hatcher, a White House honoree for the 2014 Champion of Change for
STEM Access & Diversity. Thanks to her leadership, she is helping to challenge the status quo
and creating social change by combining technology and entrepreneurship.” stated Juliet Roulac,

Guest will be treated to cocktails, soft drinks and hors d’oeurves, a presentation on coding by
Felecia Hatcher and then close out the evening with an IMAX experience of Island of Lemurs:
Madgascar 3D. The film is narrated by Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman.
Felecia Hatcher has dedicated her life to turning kids and young adults from undeserved
communities into entrepreneurs and exposing them to careers and entrepreneurial opportunities
in technology through her program ‘Code Fever.’ The initiative helps to increase technological
entrepreneurship funding and training to underserved Florida communities.
Museum President/CEO Kim Cavendish stated, ““We are proud to welcome Felecia Hatcher to
the Museum of Discovery and Science. Felicia is enthusiastically committed to showing children
of all ages and backgrounds the importance of technology and providing them with a distinct
creative outlet to enhance their skills in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). Our

the significance of coding.”
About Felecia Hatcher:
As an Author and Social Entrepreneur Felecia Hatcher has been honored by the White House as
a 2014 Champion of Change for STEM Access & Diversity, Black Enterprise Innovator of the

Week and Essence Magazine Tech Master. Hatcher has been featured on the NBC Today Show,
The Cooking Channel, and Grio’s 100 African American’s Making History for her wildly
successful company Feverish Ice Cream & Gourmet Pops where she serves as the “Chief
Popsicle”. The Miami based gourmet Popsicle company ‘Feverish’ serves clients like Google,
Capitol Records, Adidas, 32 Degrees, Vitamin Water, Whole Foods and Forever 21 with custom
vegan friendly gourmet pops and private label frozen desserts. Before launching ‘Feverish’,
Felecia worked as a marketing manager for Nintendo, Sony and the NBA. Felecia has presented
engaging talks on Embracing Failure at Google London, Entrepreneurship and Managing
Investor Relations at SXSW, White House Young America Series, Coca Cola HQ, TEDxMiami
and TEDxJamaica. Felecia is also the author of the books: “How to Start a Business on a Ramen
Noodle Budget” and “C Students Guide to Scholarships: A Creative Guide To Finding
Scholarship When Your Grades Suck and Your Parents Are Broke”.

The Leonardo da Vinci Society (LDVS) is an individual giving society established by the
Museum of Discovery and Science in 1993. It is the Museum’s prestigious group of individual

About the Museum of Discovery and Science
The mission of the Museum of Discovery and Science is to provide experiential pathways to lifelong
learning in science for children and adults through exhibits, programs and films. Founded in 1976 as
The Discovery Center, the nonprofit facility serves approximately 450,000 visitors annually. Major
operational support for the Museum is provided through generous support by Leadership Guild
members including Broward Health, JM Family Enterprises, Inc., Sun Sentinel and Wells Fargo.
The Museum is open seven days a week, 365 days a year; Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to
