Student Schedule
10 Day Cycle
• Students follow a “rotating
schedule.”
• Odd/Even Days – Intervention,
Enrichment Core, Music, etc.
• All students receive a copy of their
schedule, with locker assignment, in
August in our annual summer mailing.
Clubs and Sports
• Over 20 clubs offered to students on a yearly basis. Our
annual Club Fair will be held in September.
• Our sports program continues to thrive each year. For
some teams, student interest exceeds our capacity. In
these cases, some cuts are necessary to preserve the
safety and integrity of the program.
• Intramural Program – begun this year, allows students to
experience the physical activity and friendly competition of
sport, even if their skills were not sufficient to place them
on an athletic team. Intramurals meet each day, during each
sport season, from 2:30 – 3:10.
• Academic Study Center – for students on our sports teams,
they will have the opportunity to get a “jump start” on their
homework assignments prior to their beginning
practice/games. This program is supervised by middle
school teachers and coaches.

Social Science Research –
8th Grade Only
• 6th grade teachers, in
the coming weeks, will
recommend students
they have seen
demonstrate strength
and interest in the
areas in which
Enrichment Core
classes are offered.
Science Research
• Science Research is designed to provide
enrichment activities that teach research skills
in a variety of science disciplines.
• Product: The highlight of the 8th grade
program is the school Science Fair. This
project not only prepares students for the high
school program, but also provides an
opportunity to represent our middle school in
outside competitions.
Math Research
• This program is for students who have an
identified ability or strong interest in the area
of mathematics. Students will learn techniques
in math that facilitate research and problemsolving skills not found in the standard
curriculum.
• Product: Students will prepare projects for
the middle school Math Fair and possibly enter
summary reports of their work and research to
various outside mathematics fairs and
competitions.
Art Enrichment
• This program is designed for students with
exceptional talent and interest in art.
Students will be exposed to various media and
in-depth art experiences beyond the scope of
the 7th and 8th grade standard art curriculum.
• Product: Students create projects that are
displayed in our annual 9M Art Enrichment
Showcase. Student work will also be
considered for entry into art competitions and
for display in our district arts festival.
Music Theory
• This is a two year program that explores the
elements and fundamental structures of music.
• Product: Students compose, notate, and
record their own compositions in our brand new
music theory computer lab. Musical selections
are shared at our annual 9M Music Theory
Showcase.
Junior Great Books
• This is an inquiry-based program that provides
students with an opportunity to interact with
thought-provoking literature as they further
develop their reading, writing, and oral
communication skills.
• Product: Students experience an annual 9M
Book Talk, highlighting one of the course
reading selections. Staff members and parents
are invited to participate in this wonderful
event.
Social Science Research
8th Grade Only
Students select topics of study
that will be the basis of social
science research projects. These
projects focus on a social challenge
or problem that requires creative
solutions to improve the quality of
life for those who live in our
society.
