CO-OP Co-op Daily hours • 12.5 hours for a 5 day week – 2 hours and 30 min. (2.5 hrs) per day for 5days – 3 hours and 10 min (3.15 hrs) per day for 4 days – 4 hours and 10 min (4.17 hrs) per day for 3 days • All school holidays are also co-op holidays – Students are NOT to work on those days unless previously arranged through co-op teacher and form completed and signed by parent Exceptions • If students participate in school activity – If student must miss all or part of co-op because of school activity such as a game or tournament. – If student must leave early to catch bus to get to school for activity. – If the school activity has a bus leaving the school and you have to return to catch the bus on time. – If you return late from a school activity and can not get to co-op at a reasonable time. Exceptions • Class field trip – If a class is having a day long field trip – If a class is having a field trip that rolls over into some of your co-op time • Change is school schedule – Where the school schedule is altered – students must attend their in school classes. • Christmas Mass – students are expected to be at school on that day. Exceptions – PLEASE advise employer well in advance. • Well in advance means days in advance – not hours • Do not surprise the employer at the last minute • Follow up with a call, email or text the day of the event. – PLEASE advise teacher by email well in advance. • You will need to get teacher approval. • This should be done days in advance. • Follow up with an email or text the day of the event. Hours for semester • 220 total hours are required for two credits – At employment plus in school – 185 hours of time with the employer – 35 hours of time with the teacher • If the 220 hours are not achieved the credit will not be allowed. • Time missed must be made up! • Beware – time missed cycles out of control!!! Tracking hours • Hours must be documented and verified by signature on each weekly log • Every reflection day, the teacher will go over each students logs and total hours to make sure that each student is on track. • If the student is behind, the student will submit an action plan to get caught up in their hours. In School/Reflection Days • Last Wednesday of each month – Check the website Feb 25th - Employment Standards March 25th - Harrasment April 29th – Unifor May 27th – Final ISU • Presentation Days – Last two days of the semester Evaluation • 70% of grade • Employer will provide a midterm and final evaluation • Logs have three components – Tasks performed – marked out of 10 – Initiative comment – marked out of 5 – Reflection questions – marked out of 30 • Preplacement assignments Evaluation 30% of Final grade • 10% Written report • 5% Part A and 5% Part B • 10% Final Visual Presentation • 5% PowerPoint and 5% oral presentation • 5% Final updated Resume and Cover Letter • 5% Final Interview • PLEASE NOTE – No credit will be granted if the 220 hours are not completed, documented and verified.
