Mid-Term Project

The mid-term project will focus on material covered in Units 1-5. Below is a list of potential project ideas, though

I am open to an original idea of your own.

*The due date for the project will be Wednesday, January 6 . You will be presenting your project to the class.

Project Ideas:

1.

European History Journal – Adopt an identity and trace your life during any time period we discussed in

European history. Your journal will be fiction, but should be based on historical fact. The format of your journal is up to you; however, please include pictures, letters, maps, or drawings in order to add a little something extra to your writing. You must include a minimum of 10 journal entries using key events/terms related to the time period.

2.

Anthropomorphic Alternative – Use the above criteria and write from the perspective of an inanimate object that goes through a particular time period.

3.

Political Cartoons – Design and explain original political cartoons for at least 10 major events we have discussed in European history. This will require both a drawing and written analysis for each.

4.

Chapter of Instruction – Now is your chance to be a teacher and re-create a chapter of instruction for any of the chapters in Units 1-5. You are required to create a PowerPoint of notes for the chapter, one worksheet, one primary/secondary source activity, and a chapter quiz. Please see me for further details.

5.

European Map Project – The map of Europe has changed significantly throughout the course of history.

Create a timeline of European maps from before the Hundred Years’ War to the Congress of Vienna

(1815). The format is up to you, but you must include at least 10 maps and a detailed written explanation of each.

6.

Document Based Question (DBQ) – Formulate an entire DBQ from question to response. This means that you must create a compelling question, provide brief historical background, compile at least 8 relevant documents, and a detailed essay response.

7.

European History Video – Create a video portraying a specific event that we have discussed in European history, a historical figure’s life, a timeline of events spanning 1300 to 1815. I understand that you want your video to be entertaining, but please keep in mind that the video must be content-driven and must be historically accurate. *You may work with a partner on this project.

8.

Design your own – If you have a better idea for a final project, please discuss it with me. I am willing to work with you on this, but it must be approved.

Have fun and be creative!
