Antigone
Be able to answer:
Referring back to the Greek myths we read, how do these stories explain what occurs in nature and in the world that the Greeks would
have seen? In other words, how were myths used instead of science?
What archetypes (OTHER than heroes) can you find in the stories of Greek mythology? What archetypes are in Antigone?
How did Greek mythology totally change all previous ideas of gods and goddesses?
What did Greek mythology therefore tell us about the Greek people and their perception of themselves?
What were the Greek gods and goddesses like? What did they do? Feel? Etc.? What does this tell us about the people who worshipped
these gods and goddesses?
What themes were very important in our study of Antigone? Provide evidence of these themes in the play?
What does Antigone believe is just? What does Creon believe is just? What in the end happens to these characters? What does the play
therefore say about this struggle for justice?
VOCAB UNIT 3: Know words and definitions; study as you usually do for vocab.
