ANIMAL BODY SYSTEMS EXPERT GROUPS JIGSAW PROJECT 50 POINT PROJECT Teacher will assign 5 EXPERT GROUPS of 5-6 members (expert groups must contain enough members so that there is at least 1 expert in each learning group); group letters A-F Animal Form and Function, Immune (43), Endocrine (45), Nervous (48,49,50). Each group will choose one system and teach one or two sections about that system. This may be new material, or may reinforce material that we have learned. Each Group will write 5-6 objectives for their section(s). Examples of Objectives: Concentrate on DIAGRAMS/ TABLES KEY TERMS NEW CONCEPTS. Each Expert Group will prepare the following in order to teach their objectives: A. LEARNING STATION Must display section title and page numbers from book. Must display objectives. May include any or all of these: poster, book, models, power point (printed on cardstock), etc. B. STUDENT ACTIVITY May be notes, worksheet, game, questions, etc (these may be used in combination). (*Use time well—keep group on task, but don’t overwhelm. We have 22 minutes at each station.) Required: written section that students will take with them for review. Must include 10 fill-in/ short answer questions. C. 10 MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS WITH ANSWERS AND EXPLANATIONS These are turned in to instructor (to be used on tests) and are NOT SHARED with classmates. Explanation can vary from quoting a fact straight from the book to explaining the reasoning behind the correct answer- it depends on the question. D. Pie Chart Show distribution of work. The pie chart should indicate equal distribution of work. E. Donation Box- Visitors will donate based on quality of learning (peer review) - Box should be tissue/ shoe box size (and I will have to be able to open it). FINAL PRODUCT WILL INCLUDE A FOLDER WITH A, B, C and D above (Written description of A, Written section for B and C) Expert Groups will split and 5 Learning Groups will form, numbered 1-5 Learning Groups consist of one (or two) Expert(s) in each area. Learning Groups will rotate to each Learning Station for 22 minutes each. Expert will Guide their Learning Group through Activities. Due Date: Dress Rehearsal 9 OPENING DAY (Group Rotations) March 10 and 11 Group Rotations will be after Due Date, so that all materials are here and media is checked for errors BEFORE OPENING DAY!! This is a major project grade and the work that you do should reflect that. Each member may do different parts of the assignment, but the work must be evenly distributed. If there is a problem with this, you must see me before initial due date so we can work it out. *All original material. Under no circumstances may any materials from previous classes be used!!!
