President’s Message
Happy Holidays to Heartland-Iowa IIA Members & Friends,
I hope you all have an awesome, stress-free holiday and come back refreshed for the New Year!
We have a great line up of meetings planned for the home stretch of our chapter year. Our
January meeting will be a round table discussion and another inexpensive way to earn CPEs at
only $10. Hope to see many of you there. We have Lean/Six Sigma in February, a Fraud seminar
in March, Cynthia Cooper in April, and our annual seminar in May. Our chapter will turn 20 in April.
The chapter was chartered in April 1993. If anyone has ideas of how to celebrate this milestone
send me your ideas.
CIAs - don't forget to record your CPEs in IIA on-line certification system by December 31st. This
reporting used to be every two years, but now it is every December for all IIA certification holders.
Congrats to Cassie Myers and Christine Mowry who earned their CRMA designation!
I am looking for two people to serve on the nominations committee to help round up next year's
Officers and Governors. I need volunteers who do not currently hold one of these positions for this
committee.

March 4, 2013 – Full day Fraud Seminar with John Straub. John has a forensic accounting
practice in Indianapolis and got rave reviews when he did a seminar for us back in
2009.
April 2, 2013 –Cynthia Cooper, former head of Internal Audit at WorldCom, and Time Magazine
Person of the Year, will speak to our group about how she detected the fraud at
WorldCom. Lunch meeting will be held at the Cedar Rapids Marriott.
