Fighting Hunger Together Initiative
Through the Fighting Hunger Together initiative, Wal-Mart and the foundation supports programs designed to help end
hunger in America. The initiative includes in-kind food donations from Wal-Mart stores, distribution centers, and Sam's
Club locations; grants to hunger relief organizations at the national, state, and local level from the foundation;
volunteerism efforts from Wal-Mart associates and customers; and collaboration with government, food manufacturers,
and other corporations to increase impact and reach a greater number of families in need. Visit URL:

Global Women's Economic Empowerment Initiative
Through the Global Women's Economic Empowerment Initiative, Wal-Mart and the foundation supports programs
designed to empower women across the global supply chain. Special emphasis is directed toward programs designed to
increase sourcing from women-owned businesses; empower women on farms and in factories; empower women through
training and education; increase gender diversity among major suppliers; and programs designed to make significant

Local Community Contribution (LCC) Program
The foundation awards grants of $250 to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations recommended by Wal-Mart Stores, Sam's
Club, and Logistics Facilities to support the needs of local communities. Special emphasis is directed toward programs

National Giving Program
The foundation awards grants of $250,000 and higher to organizations that are implementing programs in multiple sites
across the country or have innovative initiatives that are ready for replication nationally. Special emphasis is directed
toward programs designed to promote education; workforce development and economic opportunity; health and wellness;
environmental sustainability; and programs designed to integrate hunger relief into the above initiatives.
State Giving Program
The foundation awards grants starting at $25,000 to nonprofit organizations that serve a particular state or region. State
Advisory Councils made up of local Wal-Mart associates determine the needs within each state, review grant applications,
and make recommendations to the foundation. The foundation encourages requests that support education; workforce
development and economic opportunity; health and wellness; environmental stability; hunger relief; women's economic
empowerment; and veterans.
State Giving Program - Northwest Arkansas
The foundation awards grants starting at $5,000 to nonprofit organizations designed to serve Benton and Washington
counties, Arkansas. Special emphasis is directed toward innovative system-wide education programs; adolescent literacy;
health promotion and disease prevention; community and social service initiatives; community-based sustainability; and
job skills and workforce development.
Volunteerism Always Pays (VAP)
Through the Volunteerism Always Pays (VAP) program, Wal-Mart associates may request charitable contributions on
behalf of eligible organizations where they volunteer.
Wal-Mart Associate Scholarship
The foundation annually awards renewable college scholarships of up to $3,000 to Wal-Mart and Sam's Club associates to
pursue postsecondary education at an institute of higher education and to associates participating in the Lifelong Learning
Program through American Public University. The program is administered by ACT, Inc.
Wal-Mart Dependent Scholarship
The foundation annually awards $3,250 renewable college scholarships to dependents of associates of Wal-Mart who are
graduating high school with a 2.5 cumulative GPA and a demonstrated financial need. The program is administered by
ACT, Inc.
Walton Family Foundation Scholarship
The foundation annually awards college scholarships of up to $13,000 to dependents of associates of Wal-Mart with a
ACT score of 22 or SAT score of 1030. The program is administered by ACT, Inc.

Letters of inquiry for National Giving Program should be no longer than 3 pages. A full proposal may be requested for
National Giving Program. Recipients of State Giving Program grants are asked submit an impact assessment detailing
fund use and outcomes achieved through the funded program. Applicants should submit the following:

5. Detailed description of project and amount of funding requested
