State Giving Program - Northwest Arkansas The foundation awards grants starting at $5,000 to nonprofit organizations designed to serve Benton and Washington counties, Arkansas. Special emphasis is directed toward innovative system-wide education programs; adolescent literacy; health promotion and disease prevention; community and social service initiatives; community-based sustainability; and job skills and workforce development. Volunteerism Always Pays (VAP) Through the Volunteerism Always Pays (VAP) program, Wal-Mart associates may request charitable contributions on behalf of eligible organizations where they volunteer. Wal-Mart Associate Scholarship The foundation annually awards renewable college scholarships of up to $3,000 to Wal-Mart and Sam's Club associates to pursue postsecondary education at an institute of higher education and to associates participating in the Lifelong Learning Program through American Public University. The program is administered by ACT, Inc. Wal-Mart Dependent Scholarship The foundation annually awards $3,250 renewable college scholarships to dependents of associates of Wal-Mart who are graduating high school with a 2.5 cumulative GPA and a demonstrated financial need.
