– Decision Matrix to decide what final design to pursue

– Complete sketches and 3D models, refine design
• Prototype Built (Due 3/4/16)
– Assembly instructions, Cost analysis, Tool safety
• Testing Complete (Due 4/29/16)
• Juried Panel Presentation (6/1/16)
– Project Presentations in front of industry professionals
PLTW Engineering Design & Development
– Recurring Assignments
• Notebook Checks & Bi-Weekly Assessments
– Project Notebooks will be checked every two weeks as a quiz
grade
– Bi-Weekly Assessments will be performed every two weeks also
as a quiz grade
– Notebook Checks and Bi-Weekly Assessments will be done on
alternate weeks starting on 9/18/2015 with the Notebook
Check (See website calendar and Google Classroom for dates)
• Project Status Reviews
– Status Reviews will be performed by each team as if they were
my employees reporting on their project status, and will be
monthly for a test grade
– Appropriate professional attire is required
– Status Review dates are available on Google Classroom and
website calendar
PLTW EDD Course Proficiencies
• During the course of this year, students will develop
(with Teacher guidance):
– Effective time management skills
– The ability to work independently on technical design and
development skills
– Appropriate public speaking skills for presenting to
various audiences
– An understanding of the importance of creating new
paradigms in engineering
Grading
– Quizzes – 25% (Notebook Checks, Bi-Weekly
Assessments)
– Tests – 25% (Status Reviews)
– Participation – 15% (Shop Safety, Team
Participation)
– Homework – 10% (Activities and Projects)
– Final – 25% (Portfolio, Juried Panel Presentation)
12th Grade Expectations
• Use class time wisely to complete
assignments and projects.
• Most assignments will be handed in
online using Google Classroom.
Students need to use their School
provided Gmail account.
• Be Prepared! – Bring writing utensils,
paper, calculators.
• Model appropriate behavior in front of
other students.
• Clean shop areas at the end of the block.
Engineering Shop Policies
• Field Trip and Discovery Night
Participation – Must have >85% MP
average in class
• Any phone calls to vendors or experts
must be cleared with the Instructor
first.
• Parents will be notified of recurring
discipline issues, or if student MP
grade is <69%
