Each Team member created 3 or more topics to present to the group for possible design projects. 3 Past Events (cont) Topics given: Jose: Car door support arm for elderly. Snow board training aid. Toilet bowl scrubbing device. Electric ice scraper. Mike: Automated toilet paper dispenser. Motorized toilet bowl cleaner. Motorized shelves (for handicapped) Fruit coating system 4 Past Events (cont) Andrew Electricity generating swing. Seesaw pump. Freefall energy harvesting. Drill bit loading magazine. Human carwash. Home wench system. A.J. Extension arm for installing light bulbs. Pike pole with piercing mechanism for firefighting. Raise able wheel chair that allows user to do standard tasks such as cooking on a stove. Adjustable laptop computer stand. 5 Past Events (cont) Joe Solar/hydro powered pool filter. Multiple angle screw driver. Integrating a flashlight into tools. Power ratchet. Bolt/nut holder. Oil proof auto mechanics camera. 6 Drill Bit Loading Magazine Problem Statement: Want an ability to easily load drill bits while keeping track of bits. Methods: Permanent magazine storage systems that can be inserted or adapted to drill for loading, use, and unloading. 7 Wheel Chair Lift Problem Statement: Want to enhance the quality of life of wheelchair bound users by elevating them to heights for typical household tasks. Method: Create a wheelchair that has the seat raise by a mechanism to allow comfortable use and range of motion for common household tasks. 8 Motorized Shelves: Problem Statement: Want an ability to reach all levels of shelves for people of all heights and certain handicaps. Method: Motorized shelf system that can bring each shelf to reachable levels. 9 Hydro Power Pool Filter Problem Statement: Isolated piece of equipment that needs electrical power. Method: Use the filter system/water flow of a pool to recapture enough energy to make the pool self-sufficient. 10 Automated Toilet Bowl Cleaner Problem Statement: Want an ability to automatically clean toilet bowls without having to get hands dirty. Methods: Motor runs a shaft by rotating or piston action to scrub toilet bowl in a set course. 11 Automated Toilet Paper Dispenser Problem Statement: Want an ability to automate the replacement of toilet paper rolls. Method: Using mechanical systems to recognize and replace an empty toilet paper roll. 12 Vehicle Door Support Arm Problem Statement: Provide support for people in need of help getting into vehicles. Method: Make an attachment that uses the vehicle frame or door to provide the needed leverage for one to get into and out of vehicle. 13 Human Car Wash Problem Statement: Create an ability to speed up and simplify the common shower. Method: Designing a shower head capable of dispensing water and soap mixture. 14 Future Week of Work In the next week the following will be done: Formulate Problem Statement Create Original Design Partition. Create Project Plan. Make Task Assignments. 15
