Evan: UW Seattle government doesn’t like the bill, Umar: I think it will be a great idea for ASUWB to support the bill since most students doesn’t have the finances to go to college The bill is for to get free tuition for two years of college any Washington state resident for people who doesn’t have previous bachelor degrees Dain: moved to support the free community college bill Umar seconds the motion Motion fails 5-6-0 Lactation room -Aretha Basu Aretha: I spoke with vice chancellor to have the old reflection room allocated for lactation room and also having the room all over campus so it will be accessible as well Dain: has there been any survey to find out how many students need this? Budget Requests mainly approved Have approved a total of $17,500 Total that has been requested is about $16,00 BSU has requested $15,717 for Black History Month SAF contingency funding. Requested and approved for $1,283 Asking STF for funding for renewal of Orgsync contract o Surveyed students for input on orgsync renewal Amended Clamor club’s request to include $100 for food Dion Meeting notes 1/29/16 Announcements: o Surface Lot: Will be done in Spring Setbacks because of rain $2.4M, 143 spaces added to inventory Testing pay stations (more than 10 are being added) There is a little fluctuation of parking permits, some sales went up, some went down. o Something to note: Fulltime quarterly passes for UWB were down by 133 passes o Cascadia College was down 145 full time quarterly passes. Why these numbers are down, I do not know. o Overall, sales were down slightly. Paying for new security officer for parking lots. NOTE: They are NOT pulling from the current security staff, they are adding to it Parking software o If we were to install sensors (that detect how many spaces are unavailable/available so people know where to park or how many spaces are left in the garages Proposed cost 275K For a COMPLETELY new software system: 500K. Total = 900K yearly to maintain NOTE: The WHOLE new system includes everything from tickets, passes, website, app etc. etc. Garage maintenance: o Spent 1.3M o Committee wants to move to 100K/year to maintain, instead of 1.3M for a one time cost every 5 or so years. o 50K/floor to paint floors white. The reason for this is it allows people to see a lot better especially when it is dark. The lights would reflect off the white paint and provide more light o Might want to add Digital Speed sign (might take pictures of vehicles that are going way too fast) Pros: People aren’t going to speed in the garages, therefore safety first, Might be used outside of the garages as well (in particular by the ARC) Might be a possible alternative option than the flashing sidewalk lights?) Cons: Privacy issues, people don’t want officers “violating” privacy Possibly expensive to maintain o Stairs could use cleaning o Buss loop could have more lighting Campus shuttle: o Loop through (near) 120th Ave o Pricing: (all wages, expenses etc. are considered in these numbers) 200K/year from UW -Seattle(possibly best option) 350K/year if contracted “In house:” 281K/year o Have students pay a different rate for parking off-campus then taking the shuttle to UWB. o The distance is about 5-6 miles (it is near Home Depot) Therefore we have more parking options outside of campus, as well as a shuttle system Next meeting is: 2/19/16 9am-10:30am Rose room Diversity Council Aretha and Umar Diversity Open Forum was on May 28th and June 1st to collect feedback Next meeting June 11th @ Rose Room Jesse No update Zynia Elections for First-Year Senators are over No Update until winter quarter Zynia Next meeting on January 26th, 2016 No Update N/A N/A Downtown Bothell Action Committee Elections Committee General Faculty Organization General Staff Organization Graduate Advisory Committee Graduate Student Council Living Learning Community Task Force Zynia Leah Shin Anchala Krishnan Future Dining Services Task Force Provost Advisory Committee Residential Hall Association SFAC SAF Committee Student Conduct Code Committee Student Technology Fee Committee SAFE Campus Working Committee 2 students at large Meeting updated with information regarding a facilitated learning environment for students within the LLC while bridging the communities of commuter and students in the residential halls.
