Cardwell Dart League Proposal
As you all probably know by now at the last A.G.M there
were some changes to the committee and everything at the
meeting was a little bit up in the air.
This meeting has been called to finalise a few details and
maybe change a few things in the Eastbourne dart league.
After listening over the years to people’s comments and what
they would like to see, a proposal has been drawn up to
maybe spruce up and bring some life back into Eastbourne
Monday night darts.
This however is not set in stone it is an idea that can be voted
in or out, amended in anyway or completely thrown in the
bin, this is your darts league.
I hope many of you will like the idea and are willing to give it
a trial season and if it does not work we can always revert
back to the way it was.
Remember darts is a fun social game and the main reason
most of us play is for a night out and a few drinks and for the
love of the game.
Trying to keep everyone happy be you the next Phil Taylor or
someone that loves the game and a beer but struggles to hit
the board is our aim, let’s make Monday nights fun.

The idea, a fresh start
Many people have said at A.G.M’s that they would like to see
different and new competitions introduced into the league,
this is very hard with the amount of time and weeks we have
available whilst running a summer and winter league.
The proposal therefor is to combine the two and end up with
one cardwell league that runs for ten months, this will then
enable us to make the divisions’ bigger meaning we will not
end up with a division 4 that only consists of four or five
teams.
It would also allow us to bring in and try some new
competitions these however are not set in stone and can be
altered or changed completely if they don’t work or are
generally voted out.
What it would also mean is an end of season break between
July and September giving people with children,
grandchildren, or summer holiday commitments that time
off. Of course this does not mean competitions over these
months cannot be organised.
So on the following pages is a draft of how the league would
look and work along with fixtures and competition rulings
and formats.

The Cardwell divisions
Division 1
After looking at the final league tables for the last summer
and winter divisions, these divisions would look the fairest
obviously any views on these would be welcome.

League Competitions & Cups
1. Divisional cups
The knockout cup as it always has been playing against
teams from your own division, 501 straight in best of 9
games.
2. league cup
Bringing back the old league cup where all the divisions
play against each other. This competition would be a
double in start 501 best of 9 games.
The twist would be that if you were to lose in the first
round you would then gain entry in to another cup
competition creating another opportunity to win a trophy
and not having to sit out more than 2 weeks of darts other
than the final.
3. Cardwell ashes
Eastbourne Cardwell darts league
An interesting competition introduced to add a bit of fun
and a mid-season get together for all the teams.
It would be darts cricket which I’m sure some of you if not
most of you will have played before.
The idea being to bowl your opponents out by taking their
wickets (bull’s-eyes and 25’s) before they score too many
runs (scores over 41) with 1 innings per team.
To make things a bit fairer and more fun division 3 teams
would only need to get 10 wickets division 2 teams 15 and
division 1 teams 20.
Not only would this close the gap between the leagues
should a division 1 team draw a division 3 team but make
for lots of fun and banter.
It would be a team of 6 and 1 entry per pub with the
possibility of subs allowed should you progress to the later
rounds.
Rules for this competition can be drawn up and be
available on the night and people will be on hand to check
with should any confusion arise.
Bringing variance into the game of darts is very hard but a
night where every team is invited to play a quick fun
competition should bring everyone together mid-season
for a few drinks and merriness.

Things to be voted on
1. The new league proposal
2. Double in or straight in start
3. It has been suggested to add a team game of 4 to the 6
singles 3 doubles format thus enabling a draw which would
then create a 1 point shared outcome on the night.
This could make the leagues a lot more interesting and a lot
closer.
