A full measure, topped and overflowing
For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith
in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people,
I have not stopped giving thanks for you,
remembering you in my prayers.
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of
wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him
better.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be
enlightened in order that you may know the hope
to which he has called you, the riches of his
glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his
incomparably great power for us who believe.
That power is the same as the mighty strength he
exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and
seated him at his right hand in the heavenly
realms, far above all rule and authority, power and
dominion,

and every name that is invoked, not only in the
present age but also in the one to come. And God
placed all things under his feet and appointed him
to be head over everything for the church, which is
his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in
every way.

We need wisdom and revelation – v 17
We need our hearts changed – v18
We need to understand that we have the power
of the resurrection in us and for us – v 19-20
• We need to understand that Jesus Christ is now
the supreme ruler over all creation – and he is
our friend – v 23.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink; or about your body,
what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and
the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of
the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in
barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they? Can
any one of you by worrying add a single hour to
your life?”

”And why do you worry about clothes? See how the
flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet
I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was
dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the
grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is
thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you –
you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, “What shall
we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we
wear?” For the pagans run after all these things, and
your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”
