More than 1000 invitations will be distributed to individuals from Government, private industry, think tanks, and the press. We anticipate approximately 375 attendees with approximately 70% from Government, 20% from private industry and 10% from the press. 4) What is the value of any refreshments? The objective of the Summit is to explore issues and solutions related to fielding Directed Energy (DE) and related capabilities, e.g., railgun, to address emerging threats, and create new advantages for warfighters. The panels will focus on maturing DE technologies, senior warfighter perspectives, and Congressional perspectives from the DE Caucus. The afternoon panels address these issues at a classified level. We will close the Summit with an integration panel where we have an open discussion on the key observations from the Summit and identify the follow-on actions to expedite the fielding of DE capabilities. 6) Will individuals in attendance represent a range of persons interested in a given matter? The event is structured to reflect a broad cross-section of industry and Government perspectives on DE-related topics, among both attendees and panel participants. Members of Congress and other key DoD stakeholders also have committed to participate on the morning and afternoon panels sessions. We have invited key members of the industrial base that are applying IR&D and focus on maturing aspects of DE weapons systems technology to make them even more valuable and cost-effective to meet our Nation’s defense requirements. The morning keynote addresses and sessions are unclassified and open to the press.
