BMA 7 Create new learning activities to integrate SCAMPER and CPS into our curriculum unit Show differentiation for the gifted student SCAMPER for an advertising campaign for sports shoes-Year 4 Substitute Show 2 ads for 2 winter boots. What information have they included? Is there any general information about shoes that is needed no matter what type of shoe it is? Combine Combine the information about various types of shoes with the ads for sports shoes. What things are common? What things are different and why? Adapt Take the relevant information for the ad about the winter boots and adapt it to be applicable to an ad about sports shoes. Gifted students to create a graphic organizer such as a venn diagram to show the common characteristics between the shoes and those, which are particular, to each. Then adapt the ad to empathize the parts, which are needed by the sports shoe. If you need to play sport in your shoe what characteristics and parts would be more important? Modify, magnify, minify Increase the amount of information that you need for a sports shoes that is not in the ad about the winter boots to make it more relevant for the sports shoe ad. In a sports shoe you need spring, comfort, support, breathability, and strength Put to other uses If this ad were to be used for advertising other sports equipment would it be a good ad? Are we including a style that could be adapted as an appealing ad for other people who are interested in buying other sports equipment? Is it the sort of ad that appeals to all people who play sport? Are there any particularities that these types of people share and would want to see in an ad? Eliminate What information can be eliminated because it is not adding to the value of the ad or the product? Eg that a sports shoe is waterproof –does it need to be waterproof Reverse, rearrange Theme and rheme- what is the most important information? Make sure that this is emphasized in your ad as the most prominent thing and the other things, which do not have as much value, are made less prominent in the ad CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING You are the boss of the ad agency. You have to choose between 2 ads. Which one will you choose? Problem Awareness A choice has to be made between 2 good ads for one campaign to launch a new sports shoe. Which one do you select and how do you know if you are making the right choice? Fact Finding Who is the customer? What is the product? What does the customer want to know about the product? Where is the ad going to be shown? How much do the ads cost? Which ad is the most colourful? Does the ad need to be colourful? Do they know where they can buy them? Problem Solving Have we asked the customers what they want from the product? Have we done market research? Have we put those findings into our ad? Does the ad show the product off to the best effect to show the technical part of the shoe, as this is what the customer needs to know? Have we added colour? Idea Finding Do some market research of the questions from the fact finding and relate them to the problem solving Solution Finding On the basis of the above and the correlation of all these results and brain storming –make a decision of which ad most fits the needs of the consumer and the ad agency.
