This included laptops, desktops,smart phones, tablets and servers for a total of 75+machines. Monitored and maintained the station’s Rohde and Schwartz digital transmitter and transmission line. Also serviced tower strobe electronics. Provided reliable, efficient technical support to staff, addressing issues that occur both in the IT and broadcast engineering domains. Coordinated file based delivery of content with distributors, ensuring proper format and delivery times. Designed and built many of the station’s servers using the latest and most relevant computer hardware while ensuring reliability and redundancy in case of failure. Using a “green field” installation, rebuilt the station’s network infrastructure from the ground up to meet the challenges of an IT centric broadcast environment. Some of the hardware used included: o HP Procurve Core Switching o Sonicwall Enterprise Class Firewall and VPN Clients o FTP Servers for File Based Content Delivery Administered the networks through the use of Active Directory and Group Policy along with DHCP and DNS servers. Constructed and configured an open source CentOS based VoIP phone system using Trixbox and Cisco IP phones. o Lowered the stations monthly phone expenses by 70%. Used VMWareESXi on select servers to reduce hardware cost and maximize hardware resources. Documented all network configurations and building wiring using Microsoft Visio and VidCAD (AutoCAD Based software). Was on call 24/7 to provide technical support. Constructed two sports production trucks. The hardware included: o Ross Vision Switchers o File Based Video Playout o Avid Deko Graphics Designed and integrated afile based Miranda iTX master control multi-channel automation system which includedrouting, multiviewer and all supporting equipment.
