Purpose: The IPT system was developed in late 2006 to identify all publications attributable to LANL authors. The system enables us to meet management’s requirement to provide “peer reviewed” publication counts to the Department of Energy (DOE). The need to identify the individual LANL affiliated authors was an initial requirement. Authors are identified by a unique employee number, disambiguating common names. This information, augmented with data supplied by HR, allows us to query and generate specialized reports on various demographic criteria. Duplicate Records: Harvesting from multiple databases creates duplicate records. Differences in metadata, presentation of scientific notation, variant page numbers, etc., creates issues for matching/removal of duplicate records. Our current machine matching criteria is based on journal title, publication year, first author, start page and volume. We are investigating alternate methods for better matching. repoid atitle jtitle secjtitle citation authors info:lanlrepo/eix/E2 0083811564 134 Ultrafast carrier dynamics in semiconductor nanowires Conference on Quantum Electronics and Laser Science (QELS) Technical Digest Series 2007 Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference, QELS; May 6-11 2007; Baltimore, MD, United States 2007 [Prasankumar, R.P. * Wang, G.T. * Clement, T. * Choi, S.G. * Picraux, S.T. * Taylor, A.J.] info:lanlrepo/inspec /10172379 info:lanlrepo/inspec /10925174 Ultrafast carrier dynamics in semiconductor nanowires Ultrafast carrier dynamics in semiconductor nanowires 2008 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO) Proceedings of the SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering info:lanlrepo/isi/000 2700186000 01 Ultrafast carrier dynamics in semiconductor nanowires PHYSICA STATUS SOLIDI B-BASIC SOLID STATE PHYSICS info:lanlrepo/pro/00 0260498400 901 Ultrafast Carrier Dynamics in Semiconductor Nanowires IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society (LEOS) Annual Meeting 2008 2 pp., Conference on May 2008 Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO); 4-9 May 2008; San Jose, CA, USA [Prasankumar, R.P. * Choi, S.G. * Wang, G.T. * Picraux, S.T. * Taylor, A.J.] Nanoepitaxy: vol.7406, Homo- and p.74060E, Heterogeneous 2009 Synthesis, Characterization , and Device Integration of Nanomaterials; 3 Aug. 2009; San Diego, CA, USA [Prasankumar, R.P. * Upadhya, P.C. * Li, Q. * Smith, N. * Choi, S.G. * Azad, A.K. * Talbayev, D. * Wang, G.T. * Fischer, A.J. * Hollingsworth, J. * Trugman, S.A. * Picraux, S.T. * Taylor, A.J.] Vol.246, [Prasankumar, RP iss.9, * Upadhya, PC * p.1973Taylor, AJ] 1995, SEP 2009 Conference on Lasers and ElectroOptics/Quantu m Electronics and Laser Science Conference; 20080504 20080509; San Jose, CA p.17961797, 2008 [Prasankumar, RP * Choi, SG * Wang, GT * Picraux, ST * Taylor, AJ] Institutional Publications Tracking (IPT) System Valerie O. Trujillo, Susan K. Heckethorn Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Research Library LA-UR-10-06924 Human Review Process: Library staff review the “machine” author matches against the fulltext. Non-LANL authors, incorrectly matched, are unmatched. LANL authors missed by the preliminary machine matches are manually matched by staff. The type of match is noted for our own metrics. Collect Human Review We harvest summary data from bibliographic records in the Library’s (aDORe) repository of vendor data (based on institution match) on a monthly basis. All records have a unique repository identifier (repoid). • Library staff uses fulltext of article as authority for verifying LANL authors Post-Process Staff Interface Data • Non-LANL authors inadvertently matched are “Unmatched” ISI PRO INSPEC EIX BIOSIS 5 different databases Full Text Article Tools developed for customer use: An end-user interface, myPubs@LANL, has been developed. This allows laboratory researchers to enter their employee identification number into an interface. The corresponding repoids are used to pull bibliographic and citation data from the Library’s OPPIE* database. Human Review *OPPIE is the Research Library’s interface searching our repository of vendor data (ISI, Inspec, BIOSIS, Ei, etc.). Post-Process Data • Delete records without LANL authors Pre-Process Data • Eyeball all titles for duplicates missed by other de-duplication efforts • Duplicate removal processes eliminate all but preferred record • Machine matching processes applied to all publication author names Customer enters Employee ID myPubs@LANL calls IPT system for unique repoids Full bibliographic records, including citation counts, retrieved from OPPIE* Citation counts calculated on-the-fly List of publications displayed Email Exact Name Author Matching: Author information is placed into a MySQL table. The names are compared with employee information, provided by HR, through a series of 6 successive matching routines (see central panel). Non-LANL authors may be mistakenly matched due to common surnames and initials. Other causes of mismatches or failure to match include name changes, staff writing under nicknames/middle names, recent changes in employment i.e., now at Los Alamos.
