Use the outline to help you organize your ideas for one of your paragraphs for the assignment. If you
would like recreate the outline on a separate sheet of paper to ensure you also follow the correct
format for your second paragraph. Do not forget to have your rough work edited prior to completing

Format Review
Topic Sentence:


You must begin your paragraph with a topic sentence that introduces the main idea of your
paragraph
Your topic sentence should also introduce the title of the novel and its author.
Arguments (Body):


Following your topic sentence the body of your paragraph will be made up of your supporting
sentences or arguments which will follow the form of point-proof-analysis
 Point – raise a point in support of the your topic
 Proof – provide evidence in the form of a direct or indirect reference in the text
 Analysis – analyze the point raised and proof provided, relating the information back to
the main idea being made in the paragraph. Here is where you display your critical
thinking skills.
You must include 3 point-proof-analysis in the body of your paragraph, one for each of the
settings and which illustrates its impact on Jane’s character
Conclusion:

Don’t forget to conclude your paragraph with a concluding sentence that wraps up the
arguments you made and restates your main idea.
***Ensure you follow the correct format as this where some of your communication and application
marks will come from.
Additional Important Formatting Details
 Follow MLA format
 Double space your final submission
 Use 12 point Calibri, Times New Roman or Arial font
 Put your last name and page numbers in the top right hand corner of each page
 Pay attention to tense, organization and diction
 Underline or italicize the novel’s title
 Remember to cite each quotation, both direct and indirect
