Assignments: You will be writing a Feature Article profiling your City. This article will be published in Scott
High School’s Website. You will present the findings of your research to the class in a Presentation with a
Hand Made Visual Representation.
Feature Article: You will FOCUS on how a particular architectural style influences or enhances your chosen
city, i.e. what is the significance (historical, architectural, religious, etc.) of your building to the city. You must
have the following information in your article: a short history of the city (focus on the 20th Century), some
famous people from the city, the primary style of architecture of the building you choose, the definition of the
style of architecture of the building you choose, the time periods it was built and the location of the building in
your city. Use the following checklist to help you write your article:

Use a lead that captures the reader
Find and explain how the building affects your city.

as well as outdoor concerts and plays. It was built by…”
Research and write well
Clarify and interpret, give depth and meaning to the building (how was it built, why?)
Leave the reader with something to think about
Have a closing that connects back to the beginning
Presentation: You will present your monument with the help of Hand Made visuals to the class
beginning on December 10th. I will let you choose which day you will present, either December 10th or
