Presbytery & Synod of WA

The Uniting Church in WA gives thanks for the life and ministry of Rev Jim
Moody, who passed away on 28 June. Jim served the church in a number of ways,
including as a past moderator. Please keep his family in your prayers at this time.

Samual Dinah and Robert Jetta will be ordained on Friday 17 July, 7.30pm, at
Winthrop Hall, University of Western Australia. Members of the 14th Triennial
Assembly Meeting will join with the Presbytery of WA and the Uniting Aboriginal
and Islander Christian Congress for this significant event.

Each August at the Uniting Church Adult Fellowship (UCAF) Annual Fellowship
Day, Certificates of Appreciation are presented on behalf of the Uniting Church in
WA to those turning 80 during the calendar year. Please send in your nominations
by 22 July to Rev Janelle Macgregor on 0427 051 101. The Fellowship Day will be
held on Friday 28 August, 9.30am, at Bicton Uniting Church.

Rev Dr David Galston will lead three sessions on ‘Has the Church a Future?’ ‘Has
Jesus a Future?’ and ‘Is there a Post Modern Christianity?’ This will be held over the
weekend of 22–23 August at All Saints Floreat and Wembley Downs Uniting
Churches. Galston is the ecumenical chaplain at Brock University in Canada and is a
leading thinker on how to communicate the Christian faith to the student

The Opening Worship of the 14th Triennial Assembly and Installation of
Stuart McMillan as the new president of the Uniting Church in Australia will be
held on Sunday 12 July, 7.30pm at Scotch College. There is still room to register
your attendance now. Due to recent rain, parking is only permitted in designated car

Live streaming of the Assembly Opening Worship and Installation
Service will be on the internet. A link will be available on the Uniting Church in

The Cato Lecture, at the 14th Triennial Assembly, will be led by Rev Dr Lin
Manhong, associate general secretary of the China Christian Council. Lin will speak
on the experience of the Chinese church post-cultural revolution, on the margins of
Chinese society and yet growing rapidly. It will be held on Thursday 16 July, 7.30pm,
at Winthrop Hall, UWA. This is a free event. For more info visit

UnitingCare West (UCW) is proud to launch its 2015 Winter Appeal video.

In recognition of NAIDOC Week, UnitingCare West will be hosting a number
of activities celebrating NAIDOC at their Tranby Day Centre for the homeless and
Family Foundations Service. During NAIDOC Week, UnitingCare West aim to
acknowledge the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander peoples; to enhance the relationship with our clients and deepen the

Plastic Free July aims to raise awareness of the amount of single-use disposable
plastic in our lives and challenges people to do something about it. You can sign up
for a day, a week or the whole month and try to refuse all single-use plastic or try

January 2016. To be considered for this position you must be a member of the

The Uniting Church National Task Group on Engagement with and
Response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child
Sexual Abuse is seeking expressions of interest for the position of an Executive
