The International Office plays a central role in supporting the development and implementation of this strategy, focusing in particular on international student recruitment, student mobility, international teaching partnerships and international relations, including support for students, staff, overseas visitors and sponsors and an appointed network of recruitment representatives. The University’s UK campuses are home to around 9,500 international and EU students from more than 150 countries. Purpose of the New Role: We are looking for an exceptional International Student Recruitment specialist with demonstrable success in international student recruitment in the Higher Education field. The role holder will be part of a dynamic and highly committed management team. We are looking for an experienced practitioner and manager; someone who thrives on bringing energy, enthusiasm and initiative to the workplace, who has significant business acumen and who will contribute fresh ideas and inspire others to achieve significant results. The role will involve regular international travel. Main Responsibilities 1. % time per year 25% International Student Recruitment Strategy To devise the International Student Recruitment Strategy to support the ambitious expansion plans outlined in the Strategy 2020. Working with the Director of the International Office, other Associate Directors and the Senior Regional Managers, the role holder will provide oversight of student recruitment targets, activity plans and operational factors which will contribute to the realisation of these targets. Keeping abreast of strategic developments both nationally and internationally to inform strategy. 2. Staff Leadership and Management 15% Leadership of a team of direct and indirect reports providing inspiration and support to realise targets. Undertaking performance review within the University’s performance system including developing staff and mentoring. Being a member of the International Office Senior Team. Working with staff across all the International Office teams particularly in the regional teams on recruitment related initiatives. Working close with staff from other departments within the university such as External Relations and Admissions. 3. Managing Agents Relationships 20% The University works with a network of highly valued recruitment agents across the world. The role holder will oversee the team who provide a one stop shop for international agent support, our agent conference and systems and processes for agent portals and systems. To oversee the appointment of appointment of new international student recruitment agents and ensure existing agents comply with terms of their contract. 4. Marketing and Communications 20% To lead and manage the development of office-wide international marketing and communications strategies. This will include liaising with colleagues in central Marketing and Communications to ensure the activities of the International Office are ‘on brand’ and consistent, managing a Team undertaking day to day Office marketing and communications activities. Responsibilities will cover all generic office communications including the web and social media as well as hard copy publications and other marketing collateral aimed at the Office’s key audiences. To attend cross University working groups recruitment, marketing and communications. 5. and committees concerning Management Reporting 10% To write and advise senior staff within the institution on recruitment strategy, assisting with the drafting of policy and strategy papers for members of Page 2 of 4 University Executive Board, the Pro-Vice Chancellor Global, the Director of the International Office and Associate Pro-Vice Chancellors for the regions. Providing market research papers and management information concerning recruitment and taking a lead on providing sector intelligence. 6. Budgetary management for Recruitment Activities 5% Overseeing budget management within the regions ensuring that regional managers work to tight budgets and ensuring return of investments across all regions. 7.
