Main purpose of the position
To lead the planning, production and publication of newsworthy content on Digital
News web and other platforms; and attracting, retaining and engaging national and international audiences with innovative content strategies.
Key accountabilities:
Responsible for directing the planning and production of content on digital news platforms in line with the SABC's public service mandate and the SABC’s editorial policies
As Digital News management team member, to take co-responsibility for the editorial and business management of the unit
Driving the daily content planning and commissioning process in consultation with radio and TV counterparts to ensure a pro-active, coordinated content strategy across platforms
Publishing of content, ensuring content quality and constant updates of own platforms and social media sites
Continuous development of content options and sources; and optimising the use of multimedia content in current and new formats
Qualifications and requirements:
Journalism degree and/or similar digital media academic qualifications; postgraduate qualifications will be an advantage
At least 3 years experience in a senior online editorial leadership role and high level involvement in media/content strategy development
Excellent news judgement and news awareness and insight in national and international affairs
English subediting experience
A proven record of publication/curation of online and/or social media content
Personal online/social media presence will be an advantage
POSITION: PRODUCTION EDITOR

Main purpose of the position
To manage the daily content curation activities for Digital News platforms.
Key accountabilities:
Responsible for daily news diary management, assignment and coordination of multimedia content production across all website categories, other platforms and social media sites
Cross-promotion of radio, TV and online content
Story development and management, ensuring optimal use of SABC audio and video material and other information resources as well as user generated content
Content editing and curation: checking facts, accuracy, content quality and best use of related content sourced from inside and outside the SABC
Stimulation of interaction around SABC content on social media sites
Qualifications and requirements:
A suitable journalism/media qualification and at least 5 years online journalism experience
Experience in publication/curation of online and/or social media content
Excellent news judgment and experience in newsroom management roles such as news or assignment editor, sub editor or desk head
Sound understanding of current trends in the social, economic and political environment
A proven ability to spot and develop story angles
Expertise in the use of online and social media tools in the newsroom
Personal online/social media presence will be an advantage
POSITION: SENIOR MULTIMEDIA PRODUCER

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
Main purpose of the position
Content production for the SABC News website and other platforms as well as development of new features for the website.
Key accountabilities:
Responsible for the planning and production of news, features, special reports and other multimedia content
Effective use of SABC video, audio and graphic content as well as other multimedia and design elements in material produced for the website and other platforms
Identification and use of suitable online tools to illustrate, visualise and enhance web content; and to increase interactivity
Development and piloting of multimedia best practices across all website content to improve the look, feel, functionality and interactivity of editorial content
Qualifications and requirements:
A suitable journalism or media production qualification and at least 3 years of newsroom multimedia production experience; or other relevant experience in multimedia content production
Excellent news judgment and news awareness
The ability to write and compile multimedia news and feature material within set deadlines
Experience in digital audio and video editing and multimedia content production
Knowledge of web design principles and content optimisation, image manipulation, graphic arts, animation, interactive media as well as online visualisation and newsroom tools. A working knowledge of HTML, CSS and

Qualifications and requirements:

Main purpose of the position
News production of content for SABC Digital News, focusing specifically on audio bulletins and packages for the phone news service NewsBreak 082 152.
Key accountabilities:
Responsible for production of audio news bulletins and packages in line with the
SABC’s editorial policies and guidelines, for publication on a range of platforms.
Working with the team responsible for web content, promotion of SABC content across platforms and on social media, and to stimulate interaction around SABC content
Compilation and presentation of hourly news and feature content for the audio news service and production of content for the news website.
Qualifications and requirements:
A suitable journalism qualification and radio news production experience; expertise in online journalism and/or social media will be an advantage
The ability to write and compile audio content and produce factually correct reports within set deadlines
Excellent news judgment and news awareness and a good general knowledge
A suitable voice, as demonstrated in an audition
