Unit 1 Literary Genres & Literary Elements 8/30 – 9/3 This week students will work at their own pace with their reading partner. All assignments need to be completed by Friday. There will be a reading test and vocabulary quiz this Friday. Mr. Zirkle will check your progress every day. 1. Directions: Write two stories, one for each member in your group. 1. Pick an event to write about. Example: a character goes to a store 2. Research a historical event. Get a copy of your source of information. 3. Write a historical fiction version about the event you chose. Include the historical event you researched in your story. Turn in your research with your story. 4. Write a science fiction version of your event. Be sure to include elements of science and fantasy into you story. Writing Assignment #2 Learning objective: write about an event from both narrative points of view. Directions: Write two short stories, one for each member in your group. 1. Pick an event to write about. Example: a boy/girl talking to their parents 2. Write the first version of the event using first person narration 3.
