Background Sadhu Prof Rangarajan, disciple of H.H. Yogi Ramsuratkumar of Tiruvannamalai and Founder Trustee of Sister Nivedita Academy has visited SA since 1985, for the first time on an invitation from the Divine Life Society of SA, to edit the society’s prestigious publication, Yoga Lessons for Children in 6 Volumes, published on the occasion of the centenary of Swami Sivananda. Sadhu Rangarajan also visited SA in June-August 1995 when he went there to help in organising the World Hindu Conference in Durban from July 7-11, 1996 which was addressed by distinguished personalities and luminaries, saints and sadhus from all over the world, including Dr Nelson Mandela, the then President of the Republic of SA. He also toured the entire country giving lectures and addressing Hindu organisations to bring the Hindus under one banner. Rangarajan has also met with various religious and community leaders and has given blessings to devotees from different faiths. In KZN Sadhu started the e-Learning Programme on Values as well as on “VIJNANA BHARATI - Course on Indian Thought and Culture”. As explained by late Swami Mukhyanandaji of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, The Journey through the Karoo in the Cape was to visit ancient sites of Afro Hindu prayer shrines and discover how India and Africa once co existed.
